Im sure that there are more than 4 of us out there!
Im an Aussie living in Tokyo and am now a 318ti sports owner.
Low mileage (it is Tokyo afterall - no 50km commutes!) and good 2nd hand market = a good buy. Am enjoying driving it a lot and plan to bring it back to Oz next year.
If anyone has had experience shipping cars back to Oz, please let me know.
Ive done it once before but the rules are always changing.

Been an age since i looked at this site, I'm frequent on the yahoo e-mail list.
I'm in Sydney and have a 97 Sport with H&R coilovers, m3 stoppers and a DASC (and other bits'n'bobs).
I'm in the nsw club and you will see me at events if you go.

Another Aussie 316i Compact owner...
1995 E36 manual model that I've owned since Easter 1999. Actually, my wife claims it. She has a 50km (30 mile) roundtrip commute to teach in a school on the other side of Sydney. She wouldn't have anything else, except maybe the X3.
I'm watching the ads for a good 318ti to add to the stable, eldest daughter is on her learners' licence presently patiently logging the 50 hours she needs to take the test for her licence. I can't think of a better car for her first set of wheels.

How much do you want to spend on a ti?

I haven't got a figure in mind, I'll work it out when I find the right car. Not a top priority right now because I've a few months yet until daughter gets her full licence. Also she's undecided as to going straight to university, or going overseas for awhile now she's finished high school.

You want to pop over the ditch then. They are all over the place in NZ and mostly boring colours with standard wheels and probably automatic. I reckon %90 would be secondhand Jap imports. And unfortunately most are driven by Silver Tops!
i see them from time to time. I actually saw one today a red sport,
i see quite a few 316i 316ti and 318i with the same body shape as the ti.
bly78 you are very lucky to have an 03' what's the interior like? my dad looked at an 04 a while back and it was practically the same as mine which to be honest not that great for 04.
my dad ended up buying a Lexus. Nice car to drive, but the ti feels alot more responsive. the lexus is almost too smooth you cant feel the road.
I'm from Newcastle and have a 318ti Sport '97. I seem to see a lot of 316's and 318's. I DID like mine more though, I haven't been envious yet, until I washed my car today and found the mats soaked behind the passenger seat. And they're probably wet further. I'll air my greivences on the technical forum.

(Possible) addition to the 318ti family! Looking at a 318ti 1996, manual, in Melbourne. Only 106,000 kms (or 60 something thousand miles!) Getting a pre-purchase inspection done so if everything OK with that then I will get it.
Looks like a good forum.
