It looks nice because its so simple and clean. I like how they didn't to too many exterior mods. The E46 front bumper looks good on it too.

Here is my 318ti. Its a 1996 model and its imported from Germany.
http://aegd.cjb.net/dexton/bmw/compact_may2005.jpg
The rims were originally for a 330xi E46 and measure 7.5" front and 8.5" rear with 225/45 and 245/40 tires. I am planning on fitting the car with sport Koni's and lower it, but Im not sure how much lowering it needs to look good and still be driveable during the winter ;)
I was thinking somewhere around 1.6" front and 0.8" rear.
Maybe this is a better angle for judging the amount of lowering needed:

Thats one ugly interior
Thats the best part, well that and the wheels and the suspension and the fact that it's a 323ti (factory six cyl).

Well six cyl isnt only positive. They are heavier, so the weight distribution isnt as good as the 318ti. I do think it has an alu block though, so its not that bad really. The six cyl engine will also consume more fuel, but gas is still pretty cheap in the US compared to Europe. Also, parts and service for a six cylinder will be more expensive.
Tyler's remark about ugly interior in the German 323ti is mostly because of the colour I think. This is the way my 318ti looks like on the inside. No heated seats, damn germans must be freezing their asses off
http://aegd.cjb.net/dexton/bmw/interior_318ti.jpg
It came with a BMW Original CD/radio and NO sunroof  (hint: sun roofs are HEAVY!)

That interior looks great!! My driver's side sport seat is quite worn out on the bolsters, I wish it looked that good! I love that steering wheel, too. It's compact and sporty. We had it on our '00 3-series, and it was really nice.

Here's a before-and-after pic. First pic is before I bought it, second is 3 days ago:
http://aegd.cjb.net/dexton/bmw/before_after.jpg
I still think its a little high in the back(EDIT: not really visible in this pic), I would like it maybe 10mm(0.4") lower. This is with Sport Konis (yellow) and lowering springs 35mm(front) and 15mm(back). Oh, and the old springs looked like this:
http://aegd.cjb.net/dexton/bmw/old_springs.jpg
Quite happy with the upgrade in terms of handling! Im eager to test it on a track, which I will hopefully do in August

OK this is still in the shop so not the whole car is done yet. Still missing my rear skirt. After "project Frankenstein" should be complete. Here's a few pics.

No, the pictures I posted before were before the paint job. The car is still in the shop. I'm still waiting for my rear skirt. I put on a complete Reiger body kit, and modified my stock hood to look like a E46.

Eibach springs, powerflex bushes on the front end, brembo max disks with pagid fast road pads, K&N 57i kit with heatshield and CAI, big bore throttle body, viper chip, supersprint cat back exhaust system, Z3 shorter shifter.
I also fitted a sports interior, rear spoiler, hella chrome fronts with chrome indicators and fogs, clear side repeaters and clear rears. MTech side rubbing strips, colour coded grilles and bumpers, heated & electric M3 style mirrors and 17inch M3 rep wheels.
I have a front splitter on order and will be doing an engine swap for an M50 2.5 in about 3 months.
Hey sidyal, where did u buy the rearspoiler? I have one exactly like that, but i haven't got a clue what brand it is (was already on the car before i bought it).
Car looks good btw!

First post! I'm from Bristol, England
So I hope the pic works, this is mine, a '99 318ti.
I have had it for almost 4 months now. I haven't done anything to it (except a Inspection II- phew they don't come cheap!)
Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should do and where to get it done?
I'm thinking about a new exhaust to make it sound a bit meatier, and maybe some 18" alloys, because the old ones are blistering. And I really want a spoiler (one which keeps the rear windscreen wiper) but don't know where to get one.
Whats the single best or favourite upgrades you've done?

Welcome MarkyR! Nice car, black is a good color on a ti
I actually haven't done much upgrades yet, only new wheels... Oh yeah, and an armrest-set is ready to be installed. So for this moment, i would say my favourite upgrade are my new wheels

That one looks great! How many miles?

Koni Sport shocks and lowering springs(35/15). I didnt have the m-chassis so it made a dramatic difference, both on track and road! Its definitely stiffer now, but now terribly uncomfortable. The shocks(Koni Sport "Yellow") and springs(Kilen from Sweden) were 8000SEK(~845 Euro) and mounting was 3000SEK(~315 Euro). If your 318ti is equipped with M-chassis, the difference probably wont be as dramatic.
For the looks, new wheels made a big difference together with the slight lowering(35/15mm):

I dont think Ill be touching the engine. Its way too expensive, if not doing a turbo conversion on my own, but that is quite out of the question

It's on 75k
I think bigger wheels are on the cards- I think 18s would cause too many problems so maybe I'll get some 17s
I've got a bit of extra money hanging around, (me and my girlfriend split up :frown: and I was saving up for a holiday for the two of us, now I'm thinking about spending it on the car- she was always jealous of it!)
I think u need to spend it on yourself, just to cheer you up! So why not something for your car
