Bentley says that cars with AST (ASC) should only have dealer do fluid replace....any explanation and/or work around...thanks,

first, you'll need someone to help you.
sec, if your not careful, it may screw your paint...

Bentley says that because that way the ABS can be cycled. When I brought my car to the dealer sometimes they would connect the car to the MODIC and sometimes not. My independent has been flushing my fluid for years without engaging the ABS. I would have the dealer do it if you suspect air is in the ABS unit. When I had my calipers swapped my mechanic wanted the car in the dealership so he could connect the ABS to the MODIC. But that is only because all of the lines were open. So bottom line, it is not necessary.

Thanks for your response....although I don't think I've got any air in the lines what are the issues if I go ahead and find out that I do....am I in for a lot of additional expense?

I think the procedure would be to flush the fluid. Engage the ABS but some hard braking then reflush. I don't know what would happen if air was in the ABS unit.
