To all perspective and nubee Ti owners, I love that this site and our cars generate the intense following that they do. I welcome everybody with open arms. However:

PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION before posting questions!

We have so many repeat questions on:

sport vs. non-sport
OBD-I vs. OBD-II
m42 vs. m44
upsizing rims
cd player install
how much does a swap cost?
brake upgrade

it makes me crazy lately. All that info is available in existing and recent threads. Read them. Heck, read one. I love sharing what little i know but hate knowing someone else is going to post the same question 4 hours later. Think I'll link to this thread in my sig. :2gun:

Anyone else feel the same? Can I get an Amen??

The problem is that the search function does not do a good job. Once I move the site to a new server I will add an article section. In that we can create a FAQ for people looking for a ti.

i think an articles section would be splendid!

really good idea...maybe have FAQ's on buying a new car...comparison between m44 v. m42/ obd I v. obd II

have all the most common questions for new comers, and have articles about each one, so hopefully, no questions will even need to be asked.

that's a great idea. it'll take some time to implement and keep updated, but i believe the concept is great. i was trying to "stick" threads that were repeated over and over and were covered well, but then you potentially end up with a whole bunch of sticky threads such that the first page might not even show new ones. your idea could potentially eliminate that (although the inherent laziness of people usually means they post before ever looking in the topic area or doing any kind of a search). i say it's worth a try and i will personally attempt to do it.

basic premise is we have one sticky thread at the top of each forum topic that links to other threads in the topic that are frequently asked (could be one, could be 20), right aceyx?

that's pretty much the idea.

there have been some particularly insightful threads as to model type that seem to "walk through" the information better to newer members (mostly where people stay on track, and there are the most number of replies). i think pointing people to these threads serves a greater good as well, which is the whole car maintenance issue.

a lot of the time you have to figure this stuff out on your own. advice always helps, but you have to expect a little bit of work and mental effort on your own part. honestly, i think that's the hardest thing to overcome, but the reward is infectious afterward.
