I searched the threads, but didn't find anything so I am sorry if this has been covered. Is there a dip stick to check the tranny fluid on my 97 auto?

I dont think so, its not very common for cars to have tranny dipsticks.

i dont know about an auto tranny, but for the manual tran. u have to remove the fill bolt and stick your finger inside. if the oil is up to the edge of the filler-bolt-hole, its full. if not add to it.

I was told by the dealer and my main independent mechanic that my 1996 automatic transmission is sealed and never needs servicing. So far after almost 10 years and 144,000 the transmission is running exactly as it did from day one.

oh yah, they use "lifetime" oil in the trannies nowadays. which should only be added to if low, or it should be changed if some kind of trans work is done--->according to "bentley". but 144k!? i check it or change it.
