Anyone got any guides on doing this, is it a simple procedure or is it a garage only job ?

Hey man, here's how Bentley says to do it. Sounds quite simple.
1. Raise the car.
2. Unscrew the sensor bolt, and remove the sensor from the housing.
3. Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector. It appears to be mounted in the wheel well.
4. Apply a coat of "Molykote Long-term 2" or equivalent grease to the new sensor and housing. Any grease will probably do.
5. Rebolt the new sensor into the hub
6. Reconnect the sensor's electrical connector.

It's a brand name of repair manuals. Just like Chilton, or Haynes, if you've heard of those? Anyways, it's considered the best of all the consumer manuals out there.

You can get them at most online BMW shops. Although, since the 318ti is sort of an E36/E30 mutant (suspension wise) the manual is not "complete" for our cars. Still a great help though :)

Sorry no scanner, and I can't find pics on the internet. But... These diagrams might help.

#7, the wire thing, is the ABS sensor.
#8 & #9 are the bolt and washer that holds it into the hub.
