Hey my car is idling funny so I was gonna go ahead and clean out the ICV. I was looking on bimmerforums.com and found the way to spray TB cleaner in there without taking it out which seemed easy enough. Then someone said the 4-cylinder ICV's are extremly easy to remove and they got theirs out in about 5 minutes. Can anyone explain how to get it out, especially with pictures would be perfect. I'm technically able and could easily do it if someone told me how. I can figure this kind of stuff out, I just dont want to do it wrong and hurt something.

It's actually very easy to get at. It's pretty much sitting out in the open. (on the M44 at least, don't know about the M42) Here's a diagram.

If you take it out, it probably would be a good idea to buy a new gasket first (#10 in the diagram). You also might want to diconnect the negative battery cable before you do it, just to be safe.

I wish I would have found this thread before I took off my intake manifold yesterday.
