Is it possible to do a BMW 3.5 i6 swap into a 318ti? There is a good swap car in a junk yard near here. Parts would be very very very cheap.

The donor car is a 88 735.

So many people comment on the list that you will ruin the balance of a TI by putting in an M50 or S50 series inline 6. This is a relative thing, and subject to judgement.
Given the proper change in spring rates and matched shocks, an M50 or S50 should be a no brainer, and still handle well, if not quite as lightly as the original motor set up.

But, the weight of a senior 6? I don't think you'll be happy. Almost every transplant of S38's into E36 or E30 cars has resulted in reviews that are negative with respect to overall handling. Its just a huge, heavy block.

I agree. You're better off swapping in v8 from 97 540.

Headers are a problem on V8 swaps into E36 chassis. I'm not aware of any off the shelf solution, though Hartge and Alpina probably have the parts, I doubt you can buy them individually. If you know otherwise, please fill me in!
