have been doing quite some re/searching on this topic.

Get a 'dead mouse'/old gym sock - y name it odor out of my ventilation when ac in not on.

1. what can I do = DIY to REALLy get rid of this

2. this seems an E36-typical problem since I also found this topic in other forums (but they were just discussing micro-filters.

3. Latest BMW TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this for the 318ti is

TSB 640403 OCT 04 " A/C Musty odors from heater and A/C system"

This being BMW I do not get access via Alldata.com to their TSBs ...

I feel really ashamed for BMW since they are an institution and I lived for 27 yrs. in Munich where my car was built (acc. to my VIN).

Thank y'all for your feedback !

silly question, but have you tried changing the microfilters?

hi stormos,

that'll be just a part of "it" as I have understood my extensive researches.
I posted this q expressly for the ti.

So : suggestions for a COMPLETE hvac system overhaul to get rid of this problem ?

Thank you.

I recall having that problem about a month ago. All I did was change the microfilters, but I won't swear that was the cause.

silly question, but have you tried changing the microfilters?

It is possible you have an actual dead mouse in there you know.

you kind of have to go replacing things one at a time. otherwise, you'll never know what the problem actually was. does this only occur with the a/c on? if not, then it's probably not a part of the bulletin.

i would go microfilters. based on their location, they can get pretty nasty.
