well, it depends on how bad your paint is.

claybars work wonders. it'll take anything that's embedded in the surface and make it slicker'n snot. i use meguiars, some people swear by mothers, but it's all pretty much the same.

make sure you get a lot of detailing spray, you'll go through quite a bit. take your time, use very light pressure, and wash the panel you're working on with (non-lemon) dishsoap *right* before you clay it. after you finish the entire car, wash again, rinse and do your normal detailing technique.

there were some things that got really deep in my paint which didn't come out (while gone on vacation, a bird got scared in the tree above my car). wet sanding is the only solution for that.

my paint looks dull overall so want to bring it back to life. meguires comes with a whole bottle of quick detail spray....

was thinking polish and wax after.

anyone know if meguirs polish and wax crystal will be a good follow up to the claying?

I have to do another treatment on my car due to reclaimed water that has been sprayed on my car. This is what I do. I use Mother's clay bar kit. It comes with everything you need for the claying portion. Then I use Meguirs NXT formulas, they work wonders, the car looks closest to new as possible without paying $500 for the professional waxes and cleaners. For Example pinnacle is crazy expensive but their stuff works extremely well as far as I heard.....I would dish out that money if my car was actually garaged. I am hoping to do this treatment soon...whenever I have an entire day off, when I do I will take pictures and give a step by step of what I do. I love detailing my car so i always come up with a thousand pictures afterwards. But those are my Recommendations. Mothers Clay Kit and Meguirs NXT formulas
