any ideas on this one :
a low vibration noise from front wheels and shuddering of steering wheel from left to right when braking. slight scalloping of tyres on front also. could it be shock absorbers ?

Have your ball-joints looked at. My ball-joints are averaging about 10k miles before they need to be replaced.

do you have the same symptons when braking. i never notice it unless im on the motorway doing 60mph plus. are the ball joints expensive to be replaced ?>

IIRC, they are only about $20/piece. My mechanic usually charges me about $100-$150 to install them.

dusten; you may have other suspension issues that are causing this premature wear.

I have driving issues that are causing them to wear out, they keep replacing them under warranty, but eventually I'll upgrade to the metal ball joints.

haha!
that vibrating noise might be that your brake rotors are warped.
