which is the better size for track wheels since these are no thrills race wheels I am looking at.

these are going to be basic light wheels(Bimmerworld.com) in these sizes with either 205/225, 205/205, or 225/225 tire combos.

I kinda want 17x8 but I am worried about rubbing on tight turns which I can do now fine on 16x7 OE ClubSport rims.

brakes will be OE, with just 32X in the front and OE Ti in the rear.

I have always heard 17's for show, 16's for go and 15's for snow. Not sure where 22's fit into that rhyme scheme.

I had a pair of OEM 17x8 Style 42 type II allows that I got bargin basement. I bought them for the tyres but liked the look of them so tried them on.
At the offset they were the rear guard lips would have needed rolling, and my suspension would need to have gone up 0.5" again ( I have AC Schnitzer springs in it).

At the front with the standard 5 spoke 17x7.5 and the Schnitzer springs my wheels have apparently rubbed the inner guards on full lock under load. The rubbung is infornt of the strut on the metal of the inner side of teh wheel well.

My advice is to check the roads that you will be driving on, check your suspension hight and then try to get an offset that works for your stuff.
I would never go to 18" rims as the roads around here would not forgive me let alone the ride degredation.

I have 17x8's and i have never rubbed. I have 215x40's on them now going to a 235x40. But the 215x40's don't rub at all and i have autoXed this set up (so i think it's been under load).

but... if i ever get enough money to get specific track tire and wheel combo it would be these. https://secure3.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/product_detail.asp?CS=bimmerworl&RowID=395&All=

I am keeping the clubsport stock ride height, prob going to go with the 16x7 5 spokes in black at bimmerworld.
