saw this and thought it could very well be of interest to those with m3 motor swaps, especially those with further high performance mods:

EDIT: since this happens on MZ3s and M coupes as well as standard z3s and our setup is very similar, this could happen to ours (has even affected 1.9 z3s!)

thats scary!
yeah, it is ... VERY scary. i would come up with some ideas on how to strengthen the diff mount or even the possibility of using a standard e36 diff cover which has two diff mounts and then fashioning a way to attach both mounts. better to plan for a way to strengthen it now than have it rip out later. something that might give you some good ideas ... there was a thread on someone who built up a ti race car that completely replaced the rear diff mount and subframe attachment point with a square tubular steel piece. i'll see if i can find it and post the link here.

cool ... all the stuff is still up (on the website with the pics): http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5529&highlight=race

pics 42 - 50 or so

and while i'm thinking about it, also check out turner motorsports subframe reinforcements (front and possibly rear). they have weld in reinforcements for weak points on the subframe. i'll see what i can find and post links here.
