I know its probably been talked about before, but what website sells heatshields for our cars? Also whats the best kind of material the heatshield should be made out of?

The material I think it's aluminium.
I've been doing some recearch and I think I have came up with a good intake solution fot the ti.
My ideia is the stock airbox with a high performance drop in filter. Then, debaffle the airbox and add a second intake pipe from the side. Then, cover the airbox from the inside with a heat resistant foam blanket, something like this:

The header manifold blanket and cover the intake tubes with the exhaust wrap.

What do you think of this?

Well the idea of keeping the stock airbox and putting in a drop in filter is a good idea, but I would want to see some numbers comparing both the stock intake box with hi-flo air filter and take off the box put on a heatshield and put a cone air filter. Also the idea of covering the intake tubes with exhaust wrap could be a good idea also. Never thought of that...

they sell a very good cai kit for the ti, it also comes wiht the small filter for the secondary air injection plus it is carbon fiber, i heard that it creates vacuum effect, its also cold air intake system so it wont suck in hot air. one bad side is that there is the chance of suckin in water. i know that unless u completely submerge the filter in water u will be fine. so as long as u are careful about not goin through couple feet deep puddles u will be fine wiht this kit.

The carbonio is a very good intake... But unfortunately it's not suitable for the M42... :(

which heatshield are we talking about first? there are CAI heatshields, cat and exhaust heatshields.

you have to be running some seriously high underhood temps to necessitate a CAI heatshield. a turbo is the #1 culprit, and right behind that is for the purpose of a good launch. however, that's not a large factor since you're going to be sitting in a bubble of hot air anyway. in most cases, it's unnecessary.

third; the air moving through the induction tube is short enough, and the air is moving quickly enough that it won't pick up a lot of ambient heat from the tubes. IMO, this is overkill. furthermore, exhaust wrap may keep outside heat out, but it could also keep heat coming from the engine side in (that's its primary purpose for use in headers).

and i just noticed you plan a forced induction upgrade. contact active autowerks, i know they used to have stuff for the E36.
