I'd have to go with John Pizzarelli

He's one of the most talented jazz performers out there. He covers a lot of classic bands too and adds a jazzy touch. Love to listen to it in my ti, so relaxing! highly reccomended

ALso....Foo Fighters when im in the mood for something "plugged in"

Currently it would be a toss up between Rage Against the Machine or Don Dilego. Depends on my mood.

Bloodhound Gang is awesome to drive too, the bass is pretty damn good. Hmm, I usually have it on some kinda rock whether it be Greenday, Ash, Brand New, Rise Against, Unritten Law, etc. Different styles I love them all, rock si the best....

But I have found my new love of music, the badn Great Big Sea. It is very irishy and celtic, i suggest you download "the old black rum" by them... my favorite

hey, weird, you like Great Big Sea? If im not mistaken , thats the bank from way way eastern Canada. Great band. Im going to give a try to a few of the bands/performers that were listed in this thread. I love getting into new music.

So does every TI have an amplifier? Im just wondering if it was an option...I cant believe how incredible the sound is in my TI, even with a tape player. I just got some high bias tapes and I cant believe it, they sound just like cd's. There's a little bit of hissing, but the lows are really low and the highs are clear.

Pettit; try Paramore, and the Veronicas. You might like 'em.
If I really feel like being scary, I'll throw on classical or opera music. Ever notice it's the soundtrack used when people are being massacred in a movie?

Yeah, I found them in a really wierd way... I was trying to download "its the end of the world as we know it" by REM, but instead downloaded their cover of the song which is ten times better than REM's. I tried to download some more of their music, and just fell in love with it. It is funny music, very celtic but with a rock twist. Again, Great Big Sea, download them ... "The Old Black Rum, Run Run Away, Donkey Riding, I'm a Rover" any of them are great...

To the guy who said Tim McGraw, "Live like you were dying" and "Gin and juice" are two of my fave songs... especially "gin and juice" its hilarious

I usually keep a mix in my cd changer. Like right now i got Pearl Jam,Common,Smashing Pumpkins,Kenny Wayne Shepard, and a mix cd with Temple of the Dog,Mad Season and Bjork. I have napster and came across this smashing pumpkins b-sides. There is 125 songs on it and i bought like 30 songs that are all acosutic and just really mellow,it's pretty good.

i guess it all depends on the mood. if i'm pist its gotta be Korn or something hard like david banner or old school biggie. if i'm with my girl its gotta be ray j or genuine or some type of r&b. i really like selena johnson. evanessence and seether are always good, and of course linkin park. i did a buck-o-5 yesterday listening to lil' kim's "we don't give a f*ck"

Disk 1: Kirk Franklin: Gospel
Disk 2: Holy Culture: Christian Rap
Disk 3: Best of Boca
Disk 4: Collection of 80’s music
Disk 5: System of a Down & Evanescence
Disk 6: Third Day, & Out of Eden

Depends on what type of road I am on and where I am going!

Ramones, the Clash, Rancid, Social Distortion, lots of other stuff -- mostly punk and rock. Lately I've been on a Country-esque/Americana kick, including Steve Earle, James McMurtry and Johnny Cash.

A couple years ago I OFFICIALLY boycotted the radio. Ever been in the car and put on a mix, and had someone say, "God, I hate this song!" "What? How can you hate this song??" "Well, it's good but they just played it into the ground!" THAT is why radio is the devil. Ruins good music. Blessing in the disguise that somehow the previous owner (who turned the wiring behind my head unit into a couple rats nest) managed to cut the antenna connector clean off the back of the unit. Gave me an excuse to clean up the lines and take the antenna off, so whatev.

Anyway, here's how I roll:

XM Preset A
1) Top Tracks
2) Deep Tracks
3) Ethel
4) Big Tracks (new)
5) Squizz
6) Fox News
7) ESPNews
8) XM Comedy 150

XM Preset B
1) MIX
2) KISS
3) The Blend
4) Top 20 on 20

Pretty much just find a good song playing and ride that station out until something I don't like. Then find something else good and repeat.

I also keep a couple RATM CDs handy in case of emergency.

Back when i used to download music off of limewire and kazaa i got a bunch of blind melon songs that aren't on cd. It's some good stuff.

Here is one band to check out or two..

One is Kyuss, they are no longer a band so i found this site. Watch the video for Demon Cleaner one of my favorite songs by them. You got to watch a 30 second commercial b4 viewing the video.

When I am in a spirited driving mood I turn my IPOD to the "angry" playlist. Element 80, Rise Against, Thursday, Killswitch Engage, Underoath, Disturbed, Powerman 5000 are just a few of the bands on that list. Listening to it really pumps you up.

However if it is a nice sunny day, and my windows are open letting in a nice breeze I switch it over to the "chill" playlist... Dispatch, Jack Johnson, The Fray, Fastball, Stroke 9, Sublime, Verve Pipe, Snow Patrol, Sister Hazel all just a few on that list.

So really, it depends on my mood.

And here I was beginning to think I was the only one who liked classical. When driving though, I prefer the "cross over" classical stuff like Bond and Vanessa Mae.

Going to work you gotta listen to something mellow til youre about to pull up. Something like Taking back sunday, Jack Johnson, maybe some unwritten law. TIl youre about to pull up, then you gotta blare some "cute from the team without the E" or "Sugar" by System of a down. IT gets you goin for whats going to be a long crappy day at work lol.

But, see, saosin has a new basist, drummer and singer so i dont know if they still any good. Ill let you know when i see them live this time with the new crew, or if they were better before with the old crew. The old drummer was a freaking bad as$. Saosin is my second favorite band (old crew) and AFI is the first. Kinda crazy that ima see them both in one day.

Just like the other show. Coheed and cambria, thrice, and thursday all in one show. That was my best concert ever. I hope this one tops it off.

I know that this is totally dork-tastic and cliche, but, I have the entire Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Radio selection. Every station, set up with the commercials, intros and outros. (The JVC head unit with the USB jack is about the neatest thing since the compact disc, imho). There's nothing as satisfying as watching the smile on the fresh-outta-highschool kids when they hear Julio G spinning old Death Row.

Of course, when I get tired of Goofy Fake Radio, Imogen Heap is always in the spinner.

maybe some miles davis or radiohead for a rainy day. some tupac, biggie or nas for a day cruisin with the sunroof open along with some random drum and bass dub reggae in the spinner.

for a faster paced drive, maybe some Tool or Opith. or even some drone ambience techno and funk tronica like the new deal.

I pretty much only listen to electronica (mostly house & electro), synthpop, electro-clash, and 80's & new alternative.

Here's what's in my changer right now:

Disk #1: 80's Alternative (Smiths, New Order, The Cure, etc)
Disk #2: New Alternative (Bloc Party, The Rapture, Interpol, Louis XIV, She Wants Revenge, etc)
Disk #3: Electro-Clash (Soho Dolls, Fischerspooner, The Faint, Ladytron, Shiny Toy Guns, etc)
Disk #4: Synthpop (Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Fad Gadget, Soft Cell, Joy Electric, etc)
Disk #5: Upbeat Electronica (Gabriel & Dresden, Markus Schulz, Armin, Luke Chable, Blank & Jones, James Holden, Chemical Brothers, etc)
Disk #6: Afterhours Electronica (Dousk, Trentemoller, Royksopp, Aphex Twin, Lobe, etc)

For a sampling of the electronica I'm into you can listen to a mix I did here:

DUDE.....Where have you been?????

L84THSKY....AKA Late For The Sky.......JACKSON BROWNE!!!!

A fellow David Lindley fan.....unbelieveable.

I have a shrine in my home for Jackson Browne. On the wall is an autographed poster of David Lindley's band El Rayo Ex.

There would be no Jackson Browne without David Lindley. I saw Jackson with David at the Philadelphia folk festival this past summer. This was the only show of Jackson playing together with David, in over a dozen shows I have seen Jackson. When David played the fiddle on "For A Dancer", it sent chills through my spine.

Actually, back in 1989, El Rayo Ex opened for Jackson on his "World in Motion" tour. After David's set, he came out and played some classic stuff that he recorded with Jackson back in the day.

David is a musical genius, who is very underrated. I used to have the album "Very Greasy" by El Rayo Ex, but I traded it way back in 1987 to a guy I was stationed with in Germany.

If you want, I can record a copy of Jackson Browne's "Going Home" DVD for you. It has alot of old concert footage and interviews with both Jackson and David.

I'll post a picture of my shrine tonight.

Hell yes, Prodigy is the best stuff to drive to, especially vudoo people and diesel power. Other than them anything by Incubus or Tool is perfect to drive to. I'm usually a big music listener while driving, mostly classics (Stones/J Geils/Aerosmith/Pink Floyd/etc.). In this car, I have a habit of turning off the radio in lieu of inline 6 music. I "turn it up" by blipping the throttle on downshifts, and rev match upshifts.

I loaded the cd changer with cds, but only tested to see that it works. I haven't actually listened to them yet.

Goofy, I know, but it's true.

For my chill moods I like the CD "While You Wait" by Schmoov, "Lost Horizons" or "Lemon Jelly.ky" by Lemon Jelly, and the track "Drive On" by Soldiers of Twilight. More aggro music would be "21st Century Jesus" by Messiah (part of it anyway), "Cause for Alarm" by Agnostic Front, Pantera, and early Bad Brains and Metallica. This is only the very short list!

My god people, how can anyone forget the greatest of all? That would be AEROSMITH! Timeless!

Ugh... you mentioned THAT band. I have worked with Aerosmith (twice) when they came to the Borgata in Atlantic City. I cannot stand Steven Tyler, the man is a complete and total asshat.

He is also a clutz. I was warned by his crew that if you see him trip, turn around and get away as quick as you can. He will throw a tantrum the likes of which you cannot believe. I was skeptical until I saw him trip on stage before soundcheck (the Borgata's stage moves up and down in sections and rarely lines up EXACTLY right) After getting up from falling on his face, he was looking around for somebody to yell at. Finding nobody, he waited until someboday came by, "tripped" over the same gap in the floor, and then had his tirade.

Personally though, I am a much bigger fan of Suzanne Vega. Not most people's cup of tea, but I enjoy her storytelling style

by the time that Love .45 was back from their little tour and their $50,000 Seattle recording session...The Frey was playing Wembley stadium in front of 100,000+ "fans".

industrial and such is good to drive too as well ...

sandra collins, crystal method, john & sasha digweed, excessive force, front 242, KMFDM, paul oakenfold, orbital, yello

+1 on the industrial... Dug out some old yello remixes along with the new Oakenfold stuff, Orbital and more just thinking about this... These tunes always make my foot a little more leaden!

Also, Thrill Kill Kult, any remix by Trevor Simpson, Front 242, Voice Farm...

right on...another fan!
and to think...there was a local radio station that pushed (real hard) for my friends in Love .45 to get signed...and a few weeks later The Frey petitioned the station to do the same for them...well Love .45 got the record contract and went on a brief tour of the east coast...and a few months later the boys in The Frey had gained enough ground to finally be signed themselves.
by the time that Love .45 was back from their little tour and their $50,000 Seattle recording session...The Frey was playing Wembley stadium in front of 100,000+ "fans".
it all went by so fast...it was all the talk around town. everyone thought they would be one-hit-wonders...guess they proved us wrong!
and that's the story
Word

i wasnt really a big fan of their first big song but i do like a lot of their other stuff.

could be drum and bass, could be folk ... could be pop ... could be bluegrass ... could be jonny cash ... could be kylie ... mmm, kylie ...

its good well written music.

it may be less than typical for guys to rock out to but those lyrics are quite amazing!

i know plenty of guys that listen and like the fray.
