I just went to a alignment shop and was told my rear drivers side trailing arm is bent making the camber and toe way out of specs. The tech tried to bend it back but no luck. So where can I get a replacement for a decent price. the tech called around and quoted me $$540:confused:

i would think salvage yards would be a good source. use www.realoem.com/bmw to determine if z3s use the same trailing arms (i believe they do). if so, you should have a good deal more possible sources to get one from (and therefore lower price).

I checked the Z3 for the trailing arms but they have diff part # from the 318ti. But it seems a lot of the other parts (ie axle) seem to match up. As ar as the diagram goes, they both look the same with the Z3 having a few more components

may aswell get new rear trailing arm bushes while your at it. urethane ones can be got from ireland engineering. but after listening to cali-ti moan about the squeeking you may want to go for stock rubber ones.

just my $0.02

i think they tend to use common diagrams as much as they can so they can be deceiving. i'm trying to remember if there's a thread for online wrecker yards. bavarian auto recycling is one (out in CA so parts shouldn't be too rusty). there are some others, just can't think of them offhand. i would imagine you'd be able to get a ti trailing arm for less than you were quoted.

my poly bushings do their own moaning stormos ;) i would recommend the stock rubber ones :)

thanks again guys, i found one through Bavarian auto recycling for $110 but the shipping was a beast at b1tch @ $79. oh well still better than the dealer. So its a good idea to change the bushings too??

might as well. bushings shouldn't be too expensive. if they're doing the subframe and trailing arm on one side, they'll be doing it all anyway. throw in some subframe bushings while you're at it. the ireland engineering ones (urethane) aren't that expensive and should last a long time. you don't want to pay for the labor for doing it again later.

where do you live Tman? there may well be a salvage yard closer to you. the trailing arms aren't light i guess
