Hey all, i prepped her all day yesterday, swapping out bulbs, putting in new brake-wear sensors, taking the seats apart to get that annoying "no seatbelt" light off the dash, etc etc.

Got to inspection, it looked promising.

I watch the guy go sit in the car again, and i notice he doesn't scrape off my old sticker, he puts a rejected one over it. Damn.

Emissions. I was off by a few points. Probably just need new plugs, since I have not changed them since I got the car.

My question is:

The plugs currently in my car are Bosch Platinum 4's. The kind with 4 lips on the bottom. I had my dad go to BMW today, since I had to work, to pick up some plugs, or find out what's recommended. I also told him to get the same ones, and check Autozone.

He comes home with BMW NGK RI plugs. They have 2 lips on the bottom.

Is there a real difference in performance/reliability?

I know they'll work, but I'd rather have something better if I can get it.

What are the best plugs for our cars?

Thanks

The M44 motor comes stock with NGK 2-prong plugs. Some people have had problems with the Bosch plugs, but I switch back and forth with whatever's available and haven't noticed a difference.

Some people swear by the 4+ systems, but I think they've just been sucked in by the marketing.
