steven,

seeing this thread: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7735

is there any reason not to do HOW-TOs this way w/o a special add-on that could potentially not be supported in the future?

we could produce a quick HOW-TO on how to make a HOW-TO and maybe even a special forum section for them. i think that makes a lot of sense and we could get started on these right away. it might take a little experimentation to figure out what size images can be "imbedded" directly in the article (while having the possibility of having larger ones available as well) and such, but i think it makes a lot of sense.

I'll come up with someone this weekend. There is a mod that is one the lines of using the forum to create articles.

What do you think of the tutorial section?
I can have multiple sections. Reviews, stories, etc.
My intent is to copy everything from the notebook over.

for some reason, the pic in the double up brake lights tutorial starts to load and then shows a broken pic icon (at least on mine). does it work for you?

anything special to creating a tutorial with this module?

it was breaking for me then started to work.
I'll look into it.

Nothing special about how the tutorial works as far as creating it.
It seems it's just like posting a message with the exception that you have a summary field.
I guess the best way to include graphics is to upload them to the gallery, click on the image until you get the .jpg or .png photo and insert the image.

yeah ... i've not seen similar ... i right-clicked and did "view image" and when it opened a new window it complained that the image had errors. i went back to the page and then it showed it. i reloaded the page, and it was broken again. if you need a new image, i took a pic of the same thing when i did mine.

The same thing was happening with me.
I have photos from the notebook.
I'll figure it out over the weekend. I probably just have some not configured correctly.

Go to
http://www.318ti.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42 and click new tutorial.
Are you seeing the technical section? I am not seeing it with my test username.

Edit: I fixed the above.

can/should pictures be imbeded inline in the tutorial or linked from the user's gallery or what?I think it would look better if they are inline images. That is linked to your gallery. But it has to be the actual photo. Right click to see the full url.

can we get a link to the knowledgebase under the "site navigation" section?

God, my camera really pisses me off. well, i WOULD be posting a HOW-TO on using a helicoil kit, but none of the shots i took while under my car turned out worth a crap. looks like i'll have to take my mini tripod under there next time to get close-ups when i use the next kit to rethread my second broken bolt.
