Im planning on getting new rims this spring and I was wondering what size would be the best. I am also planning on lowering the car 2 in. in the front and 1 in. in the back. Also what kind of high performance summer tires would you reccomend?

thanks they look really good. But do you think they will be the ideal size for how I will have my car set up?

Well....here's my thought.....I tried using 16s and 17s and my car is lowered about 2" upfront (evethough I preferred 1.2-1.6 like the box says) and about 1.5" rear using H&R sports. Specs said 1.8" lowered fron and 1.4 rear....well I thought in reality the drop would be less, but this time....more. Anyway....using 16x7 w/ 225 50 16s felt the best in ride quality and handling combination. I switched to 17x7.5 w/ 235 45 17s and handling is better when the roads are flat, not grooved or bumpy. With 17s, tramlining appears and ride quality is not as good, especially with the 2" drop. So, my advise is do a little research with size combinations.
Tires......hands down Michelin pilots if I can afford it, Yokohamas are great for both track and street, but Kumhos, for the price......great for street and some light track useGood luck...

yeah, they will do great as long as your camber is not negitive.

I'm waffling between 16s and 17s for my car right now. 16s will likely be both more comfortable and better perfoming than 17s, especially on a stock car.

17s are going to be heavier, and on a car with 138 hp, unsprung weight and rolling mass is an issue.

17s look better, though.

As for tires, go to tirerack.com and start searching. Read the test results, and the reviews, but remember that the reviews are writen by customers and some of them are idiots.

I've put yoko AVS ES 100s on a couple cars, and liked them, and kumho 712s on a car and liked those as well. Both of those are a decent performance tire at an acceptable (to me) cost.

Tramlining will occur more with certain brands. In fact the Potenza S03's i had tramlined like crazy near the end of their lifespan but not before. I switched to Potenza RE750's and love em. Especially good in the rain like the SO3's. If you have the scratch, consider them. Tirerack has quite a few reviews for every tire and a lot of them are from BMW drivers.

I think 17's look the best on a 2" lowered car though. If you lowered it a little 16's would still be perfect.

I have 17s if you ever want to you can give it a drive since I live not too far from Ft. Wayne

I like Toyo T1-S, which have been replaced with T1-R.
I like the Toyo T1-S tires as well. Very sticky and excellent wet traction as well. Also have a good treadwear rating. If you want a somewhat comparable tire that's less expensive, the Yokohama AVS ES100s are a good option. I've had both and currently running with the Yokos again.
