i think you're going to be SOL with a 95 DME and wiring harness on a 97 engine though. they should all be from the same car if at all possible. 95 is OBD I and 96+ are OBD II.

You'll need to convert to obdI for the 95 dme to work. Check out zionville for a list. There are a couple Ti'ers that have done the m3 swap + obdI conversion. Check out the Compact6 section.

Zionsville autosport is a great place I have been there a few times. They are located fairly close to where I live. They sell the conversion kit, but it is not cheap.

Just as an aside, Its also a totally illegal swap at the fed level.

Any car with OBD2 may never run without it legally.(The OBD2)

Its really low low low chance you get caught but it will happen under
this circumstance, You just got in an accident and the Trooper wants to
tap the OBD2 port to get the black box data (ALL obd2 computers collect it.) When he can't find the port your car is impounded. Depending on the phase of the moon you may or may not get the car back. AND just for fun its 10K worth of fines....
Which you will be litigating against in federal court. (Lawyer required)

I know I know but as a famous CEo once said ,,, Only the paranoid survive...)

It really depends on emissions and whether they sniff or scan the codes.
I don't believe OBD-II is as sophisticated as current OBD systems.

pic of my cobra at the track car runs 6.31@109.7 in the 1/8 and 9.91@138.2 in the 1/4, thats with full leather interior,a/c,p/s and me driving it to the track. So i'm not too worried about the emissions on the bmw. :)
