Hi, I'm thinking about replacing my standard 16" Alloys on my compact with 18" MV alloy wheels. I have seen this done on a car for sale on the net and it looked really nice. Just wondering if anyone has done this and can give details of best tyre sizes front & rear and also suspension & arch mods that are needed.

Go for 18x8" with a 40mm offset (ET40), fit 225/40 x 18's & you'll be fine, any bigger & the fenders need to be rolled.

Thanks alot for the advice and the welcome. I guess i'll just have to wait until i've fitted the wheels to find out if the stock sport suspension looks & rides ok. I reckon it'll need dropping though. Cheers!

I had 8.5x17 wheels and no drop for a while. It did look like a 4x4.

Nice but i think that might be lower than i want to go! Thinking about the eibach Pro kit which lowers 30mm front and rear. I'm wondering how you cope with speed humps, car parks and any slightly uneven roads. Looks ace but how practical really? How much work to stop rubbing wheel arches?

Speed bumps are pretty much a no no. Roads are pretty much fine for almost everything but the most rough uneven country roads. I have to pretty careful about not scraping the front bumper on driveways and parking curbs. I would say it is fairly practical.
