NOTE! This was not an original option on the 318ti and therefore this is not a ti-specific procedure.

additional information provided by clex2:

you need to do a serious tear down of the steering column which necesitates removal of the airbag/steering wheel/instrument cluster/lower dash panels plus some crawling around under the car. For the not so mechanically inclined, it can be a daunting undertaking with the possibility of failure. You might get to certain point and becuase you can't get something to come apart, you could be stuck. Most places won't want to attempt this even if you paid them. But, I did it, but during the process, I had some doubts.

Another thing, you will need to make a cut out provision in the lower dash panel along with a cut out of the metal/foam knee bolster behind the panel to clear the lever.

I just bought a tilt steering column on ebay!..... Where did the link/ write up go?...:confused:
