View Full Version : what tool do I need to remove axles from Diff?

Working on parting out the silver Ti and came across this

what tool do I use for the axle bolt? it's looks to be 10mm..but it's not a true bolt.

EDIT: does the bolt look like the one on the left?

is the bolt a male torx head? if so, you need the female set to remove them, sears has a nice set.

advance auto had a nice cheap set. Less than $10. They've lasted thru at least a dozen e30/e28 transmission jobs, so the quality can't be that bad.

that's odd. if memory serves, it was in with their car care tools section. the brand may be lisle. i seem to remember red/white coloring.

that's odd. if memory serves, it was in with their car care tools section. the brand may be lisle. i seem to remember red/white coloring.

Don't waste your money. I paid $20 for the set and it's a hassle to use them when a small sae wrench fit it snug. I don't remember the size but when I put my diff in it cut the time in more than half.
