has there ever been any thought to having a live chat room on here? Just thought if noone has mentioned it, I'd throw out the idea.

Oh man...then the nastyness could be real-time! I think it's a good idea if it's not too much work.

Oh man...then the nastyness could be real-time! I think it's a good idea if it's not too much work.Chat room add ons lead to big security problems. Anytime I read about boards being hacked they usually have in common a chat room add on. I'll do a little more research on it but kinda doubt it. One security breach can take down a server and with all their clients. I don't want to be the one responsible for that.

how about running the chat server on a different server to the site? doesn't even to be linked to the provider does it?

yeah, it could either be really good or really bad. I'm going to think that the glass is 1/2 full and that it'll be a good thing. If there's technical complications, then it's a non issue.

What if we could limit the chat room to site supporters? maybe that'd keep it calmer and semi hacker proof.
