How does one open the fog light housing? And what are the options with regards to types of bulbs that can be used?
thanks

you have to remove the light from your bumper/spoiler to access the bulb. On the m-tec bumper (sorry, dont know about other types) there's a hole in the brake duct that you poke a screwdriver through to release a clip that holds the light housing in. http://www.gbnetwork.co.uk/bmw/foglights/
As for bulbs, stock are H1 55w (for the Uk) or you can modify them to run H7s & use them as driving lights - I've got a tutorial for this somewhere if anyones interested.

I would check on legality of doing that over there; I know they're pretty strict with fogs in the UK.

H7 is a great option. However, HID rocks! Check it out.
