This article was posted today at Gizmo Mag's website. Simply put, this car sounds amazing and if it's for real I really, really want one.

* NOTE: I'm not a muscle car guy. 157mpg sounds more heavenly to me than any 10 cylinder engine could.

it's a shame that we'll probably not see anything like that in the US for many many years :-(

I went to their homepage and on the "Buy" link they mention a production date of 2009. If they stay on schedule I assume they'll be in Europe around that time, so that's the most optomistic we can be I suppose.

Man...that would be so awesome. And it's not even painte per se, its body panels are essentially fancy "colored plastic".

you must drive fast and take chances. I rarely avg less than 30 mpg, I drive rather spirited thru the mountains every day.

That is extremely low gas mileage. I get about 30mpg at 80-85 mph around 4k rpms.

My Gas mileage is about the same as yours. I get about 275 miles a tank if im lucky.

So what is wrong with my car? The filters are clean so its not that.

I have never ever gotten 30mpg. I'm happy if I hit 25 or so... any tips on what you do to get that kind of mileage?

edit: Saw this on the gizmag site... sounds kind of interesting.

how do you pull away from intersections? do you floor it a lot? that makes a huge difference. Also is your car a 5 speed or auto? my 5 speed gets 2-3 mpg better than the auto. Do you hit your brakes a lot? every time you hit the brakes you're throwing away energy.

Mine is an auto, and there are sometimes that I have to floor it. The gas mileage doesn't really bother me though. When I'm on the highway, my gas milage gets much better.

Generally my driving is very smooth and I don't gun it or charge from intersection to intersection. I have a 5-speed and though I'm not the greatest driver by any means, I do know how to drive and shift to keep from wasting fuel. My highway mileage (75-80) for example is about 25-27... city is closer to 20.

Never even seen the other side of 30...

One thing I noticied is that the engine has a "happy range" if you shift too low you have to give way more gas and that makes the gas mileage drop instead of getting better. I think shifting 3-3.5 is optimal. Again that doesn't mean flooring it to that rpm, but gently winding out the engine to there. Make sure tires are inflated really well too. Clean filters are essential. Keep a steady foot on the accelerator when cuising to keep the ecu in closed loop.

Those are a few suggestions I have. BTW my car is chipped and I believe that would negatively impact gas milage. Before I took the profile down on my tires by 5 I could get 34-37 mpg highway.

I drive at an average of 85 MPH on my 160 mile per day commute and get about 400-420 miles to a tank of gas.

I drive a auto and do sometimes floor it when I can. But would that really take my mpg down to 18.1?

Yeah, I dont know man, Mine has 220k miles on it and before I put my new wheels, it would average 32-33. Its a 5 speed and I often accelerate quickly. On the same note, does anyone have any idea why it would drop 5 mpg when I put 17s on it with 45 series tires?

18,000?? Thats extremely cheap. Think about it, 157 MPG, lets say a tank of 10 gallons thats 1570 miles. Lets say you pay 25 bucks to fill up. You wont have to fill up for another 2 months.

As to the Loremo... 20 horses is what 157mpg gets you.

So acceleration would be about the same as my parents' riding mower.
The 0-60 is supposedly 20 seconds. Probly take 45 seconds with 4 people in the car.
Also note the thing weighs about a much as a larger motorcycle. That makes an Accord look like and Excursion.

As with most of these ventures, they seem to be more like owning a really expensive bicycle to drive back and forth to work. You still need to own a "real" car if you are going to be doing a lot of serious driving/people moving. Can you imagine merging onto (insert local highway here) with that acceleration?

Still, for what it is, its a pretty neat concept, and definitely more attractive than the electric cars that only have around a 100 mile radius...

On the highway I average between 31 and 34, in town about 24-27. The supercharger makes a huge difference on the highway, escpecially when using cruise control.

Where dose it say how many miles you have left in your tank? Is it the number next to the mileage? If it is it says I have 515 miles left befor I have to fill up and its about half way between 1/2 and 1/4. Dose that seem right? Also I think the computer is messed up and thats why it says that Im getting 18.1mpg because it also says Im averaging 22 mhp and I know thats not right.

BobbyDigital

Well, im my opinion, neither one of those seem right. The only time mine got as low as 25 mpg was when my o2 sensor needed to be replaced.

And with that kind of mileage, you arent going to have anywhere close to 500 miles left even if you topped it off 500 times. I get 32 mpg and I can get a little over 400 on a tank.

And just because I have some sort of OCD, before ends with E.

Wonderful, another thing to fix on this money pit. Im getting seriously pissed at my car. I think its time to trade it in for a nice club sport or a 328is.

Yeah but then you get something fun for your money. Replacing the hood, right grill, the computer, ect is not fun. Its annoying. Now I think I have some kind of engine problem too. I have to take it in next week to have it checked out. And thats even more money I have to put into it. I could have bought a M3 by now.

How much have you spent?

SDKmann

So far about $2000 plus the $1000 for getting the front end fixed, just got the quote and I havent done it yet. Way to much for a $4000 car. I like your new sig. it looks really good.

to help put this in perspective, the $1000 to get the front end fixed would still be there if you bought another car (I'm assuming it's the accident damage), so you've got $6000 in your car. That's still not bad. Also if you bought an older m3, be prepared to do work to it. Cars our age start having parts wear out, the only way to avoid it is to buy a newer one, which costs $. I've got around $10k in my ti already and I'm not near done, but yes, I'm doing 'fun' upgrades
