View Full Version : M3 VS Golf R32
Just wondering, Stock 99 M3 vs a Golf R32. Both have 6 cyl- and both are 240HP. Stock To Stock, who wins? Just wondering cuz theres thia R32 that i dont like (not the car, but the driver) he thinks hes the sh*t and all. So when i do get my S52 or get Stage 3 MASC (if masc is any good), then i would want to race this guy.

R32 will win.
heh, I was thinking it would be about even depending on the type of course...unless its wet...then R32 all the way.
I think the R32 weighs about 300lb more than a stock 99 M3 (probably wouldn't be too much of a worry though). I was also thinking the AWD would eat up some of the power in the R32. It would be interesting to see these two on a track.

Based off of numbers the M3 is faster.

R32 would take the M3...atleast from what i seen. I'm sure it could be different under certain circumstances.
My buddy Alex has a 2004 R32 and he has taken M3's but it is always really close. The all wheel drive has a lot to do with that. And the driver has a lot to do with how things turn out.

hey randy, have you been or gone to the ontario late night races?? If so, how is it, and do you know where it is and what time?? I know its in ontario, starts midnight and ends like 5am or so? If your down, my buddy wants to go this weekend, im down to race some civics  My friend thinks hes the sh*t, he wants to race someone with his, GMC Canyon 5-cyl. He thinks his truck is all pimped out and can smoke some fools, haha.

My s-10 would have destroyed him.....the 5cyl is only better than the old 4.3 in one way......gas milage! The canyon/colorado is soo overweight it is sad.....expect low 16's if he goes to a track if it is a stick. He should whip some stock civics though......heck, my sable will do that, it runs high 15's...lol
edit: as for the R32 vs. M3 The R32 is well known for being average at everything, but excellent at nothing. A good driver in each car equals a win for the M3 unless it is wet.....then it is AWD all the way.

which is why the R32 will most likely be the victor in the race he proposed ;)

i think he is talking about street racing...so the R32 is really that fast? i new they were pretty quick but i didnt know they were comparable to an M3 maybe thats just because i think BMW's are the fastest!
especially with stickers:rolleyes:
Same BHP as a stock E36 M3 (240), but two extra wheels to drive, but less weight.
The E36 M3 will out-handle it on a dry track, not a wet one (with the right tires in both cases).
I'll stick with the M3. It was after all, the best handling car in America in 1997, yes, better than the Porsches and Ferraris of the time too..
Food for thought: In autocross, M3's classed in B Stock while the R32 is classed in D Stock (along with the lesser 3-series).
While I'm a VW guy at heart (specially GTIs), my money's on the M3, autocross or on the track.

two pizzunk kids racing ... one has an R32, the other a ti with M52 or Stage 3 DASC (we'll nicely replace the MASC automagically) ...
answer ... R32

My friend Alex has a R32 with some minor work done to it ( Revo Chip, Custom Exhaust, Intake, H&R Sports, Sway bars...etc) I Have a 318ti with a DASC, Bosal Exhaust and thats pretty much all for hp mods. We have raced several times before, From a stop I can't touch the R32 he is all wheel drive and he is out (he just dumps it at 4 grand). From a roll in first we are dead even. From a roll at about 40 i put like 2 cars on him. We race on the highway I start in fourth and he starts in 5th ( he always starts a gear higher than me from some reason) I pull on him until i need to go into 5th( his 5th takes him to 130-140 mph). The R32 is really hard to get a dead stop, its not meant to go in straight lines thought it's a rally car.
We'll those are my experiences with a R32.

I saw a comparisson between the M3 and the R32 on an ebay charity auction and sadly the R32 did better on some of the test like the 1/4 mile but when it came to the slalom the M3 ate him up. also braking was one of the test the M3 was better at. They are apples and oranges and you really can't compare the two.

I dont think he wants to know about who will do better on the track. Street Racer here wants to know who will be the first to get arrested or hit someone on the street. R32 wins.
