While waxing some floors at the building I work at I was watching the SPEED channel and saw an ad for this stuff. Its a synthetic polish that doesn't leave the white crap in cracks and you can apply it to plastic trim pieces. Today I though I would give it a try since I haven't done a good polish in a while, and hate the white crap other stuff leaves behind. This stuff is actually REALLY good! I applied it to all painted surfaces, and all the plastic trim. I'm really impressed with this stuff. It also comes with an applicator sponge and microfiber cloth to wipe the excess and buff it clean. I just picked up a bottle for $16 at Wal-mart.
I use masking tape on the plastic molding when I wax...

turtle wax?!! crap!! that stuff is the cheapest quality crap anyone can put on their cars!! I don't know about this new ICE thing, it might be good but all their other waxes sure suck!!! personal experience anyway.

well i disagree you with you.. you probably don't rub it off well enough
Don't know about ICE but a few years ago a buddy put on Eagle Liquid Gloss something & it stripped the clear coat on the hood where it gets hot. He eventually got a check tho.

turtle wax is shiat here too. wouldn't use it if it was free. leaves a horrid white residue too!
It depends on how often you wax.
If you wax often, and want the ultimate depth of shine, the (real) Zymol is tough to beat. BUT, it wears off very quickly. FYI Zymol found in Wal-Mart and others is made by Turtle wax and, is total ****. Check the address on the label if in doubt: Zurtle wax is from Chicago I think, the real deal is imported to Connecticut from Germany. Also, there are several 'flavors' of Zymol, specifically formulated for German, Italian and American paint types. Check with Car Care Specialties at 973-767-0035 for additional information.
If you are like me, and wax two or three times a year, need exceptional paint protection and very god depth of shine, go for the One Grand Blitz Wax. If applied properly (not too heavy) it is relatively easy to buff out. It has a high Carnauba content for excellent durability, and the depth of shine is excellent, as it is not clouded with excessive softeners or polymers.
My regimen:
Wash thoroughly; if stripping the old wax, I wash with dish soap.
Dry thoroughly; I use a California water blade, but have been warned it could scratch. Nice, old terry cloth towels and/or chamois are best- just watch the stitching on the edges of the towels as it can scratch.
Depending on your car and skill level, mask the black trim to make clean up easier.
Clay bar, if needed. This should not be done even every year, just when absolutely needed (when the clean, dry paint feels 'rough' to the touch). I use Zymol Detail as my lube with the bar. This is essentially an abrasive procedure, so you are removing clear coat (along with the crap) every time you do it, so don't do it often, or you will be re-painting...
Apply (by hand- my actual clean, bare hand) 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to reduce the light scratches and give the 'wet look'; buff off with clean terry cloth or flannel cloths, changing often.
Apply the one grand blitz wax (with a microfiber applicator, by hand- no machine) and buff with terry or flannel; repeat if desired.
Use the Zymol Detail over the top for the final 'bling', buff with terry or flannel. This is typically an eight hour procedure for my ti. The interior is another eight hours...
Oh, yeah. Don't go in circles with any of these products/procedures. Follow the air flow over the car. This way, any scratches/swirl marks you make will be less visible.

Zymol is the best hands down. I think they have a wax thats sells for $5k. Unless someone here tries it and says its good I think this ICE stuff is crap.

that's a LOT of money for wax. I could buy another ti for that price!

I used ICE on my car about a month ago, and I must say, it works GREAT. It was a little hard to buff off on the hood, but that's only because it was the first part I did and I applied too much of it. I also applied to to the plastic trim and such, and it really does make it black again. I have some comparison pics somewhere... Ah, found them.

Also, it gives a pretty good gloss, considering I have black paint that's desperately in need of claying.

I have to say that Turtle Wax keeps the shell on my red eared slider sparkly clean. And it gives him sense of style.

At the local Porsche dealership they have a $3k wax option that is so good that if your cars paint ever gets messed up then they will respray your car for free. Thats only after one wax.
Only wax I use is Autoglym Super Resin Polish. Its more expensive then other waxes but the difference is worth it. Easy to apply, buffs off with little effort and leaves the paintwork great. Turtlewax is cheap rubbish. Most main dealerships in the UK only use Autoglym for cleaning their stock, good reasons for it too!
No sense in making two threads, even if this is over a year old...
I just picked up for $37 Shipped, Their Liquid Polish, 2 Spray Detailers, 2 Microfiber Towels, 2 Polish Applicators, Liquid Clay Bar & Applicator. Stores want like, $13 for each of those things individually, I couldn't pass up the offer.
edit: oh yeah I guess the site helps too eh? www.icepolish.com
I didn't opt for their "rush delivery". They said it ships 4-6 Weeks, it shipped today and it's arriving tomorrow. FedEx Home Delivery from RI to CT :)

Unfortunately, I'm a Griots slave. I've tried a bunch of the competition too. A lot of Griots' stuff is expensive, but a lot of it is great stuff. I use the various polishes they have for removing scratches, plus their Best of Show wax, and the clay along with Speed Shine as the lubricant. Also, The Speed Shine is awesome for inbetween-washing touch up.
Skip their wheel cleaner, as it doesn't really do anything more than a decent washing couldn't do.
The paint on the front of the TI is a lost cause and needs a respray, which seems to be common for most silver BMWs of the same vintage, but the rest of the car is really nice. I use this stuff on the wife's Audi and my e90 as well.

Coincidentally I just used this Turtle Wax Ice stuff on my car this weekend. I got it for Christmas from a co-worker and finally got around to trying it. I was impressed with how easy it was to apply and remove. The car is very shiny and has a slippery feel to it now. It hasn't rained since I put it on so I'm still curious to see how it handles the water. It did work very well on the black trim pieces too. Overall I'm satisfied with it so far. I'm interested to see how long it holds up.

Just posting a follow up, since I originally posted in this thread way back when. I stopped using ICE about a month or so after I started; it's certainly very easy to apply and buff off, but the durability is, quite honestly, horrible. I waxed my car almost every week, not because I had too much free time on my hands, but that was about as long as it lasted in the Florida heat. I'm currently a user of p21s/s100, which I find to be just as easy to buff off, with exponentially better durability, and still no white residue.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm new. The ICE works well. two weeks ago, I did half the hood on my 528i. My wife then took it to ST.Louis for two weeks, and put 1200 miles on the car. when she came home, I washed the car and to my amazement, the side I waxed with ICE was beading up beautifully.

I use meguirs gold class paste wax. It works really well. I waxed my car about a month or more ago, and it has rained quite a bit, plus I have washed it a few times, and it still beads up amazingly.
