So, the m52 and I had some bonding time last night with me taking it through its paces. The new summer tires improves handling like no other. There is a turn near my apt that I usually take at 40+. Before, the rear end would slide a bit going into that turn. Now, the car just sticks to the ground. The wet traction on these tires is amazing too :) Got ABS working again - nothing interesting, just got sensors put in properly. Now, I just need to start working on those codes. |
nice! are you still running the stock diff? |
I've had my LSD for almost a year now :) |
ohhh thats right from an e30 and you had to run the e30 wheels. well i must say your car pulls off the dual spokes very well |

thanks! they are looking good! |
definitely an improvement over 5-lug alloys in the front and 4-lug steelies in the rear  |
I'm visiting family in DC tomorrow and while in Pittsburgh, my car is loud, but not terribly so, in DC, it would be heard a mile away without a proper muffler. However, apparently nobody in the Pittsburgh area stocks one. So now I have to shell out $300 . . . just for a 328 muffler! And there is no guarantee that I'd have it installed in time tomorrow afternoon. Grr, I wish I'd just bought the whole thing before. . . I suppose I over estimated things here. . . in Tallahassee, I know a few shops that probably would have grumbled about it, but still gone ahead and did the work with my Dinan exhaust. . . I'm getting an engine fan tomorrow so that should help with the heat issues. I'll probably end up doing a coolant flush next weekend again. . . People need to buy the parts I have for sale! |
There is no getting around it. I've broken the ti radiator. And a couple days ago, a couple of the cooling fan blades. So, I've got an m3 radiator and another cooling fan, 72degC thermostat, and DS grille on the way. All will be installed this weekend - the grille probably as soon as I get it. I also kludged up the exhaust for my trip to DC. I'll have a shop finally get to it this week. I need to figure out what the secondary air pump connector looks like so I can decide whether to try and rig up the ti one or just buy a 328 one and find someplace to put it. I know I'm going to fail inspections . . . I need to find out what I need to do to get exemption stickers until I'm ready. |
Exhaust work to be done on Thursday. AC compressor bought and on it's way. hehehe, I'm suddenly really pumped up and excited again. Though to be honest, there is more than the car contributing to my state of mind at the moment, but the car is enough :) I again put the car through its paces tonight. . . I'm loving the extra HP with LSD omg! |
Found a guy to do the weld job on the exhaust. Came out great, fits perfectly, cost me $20 + gas. |

No, that was for my 328i muffler. Perhaps I should take the old one to him and see if he can fix that. Then I can support my selling price :) In other news, I've determined that while the 318ti cluster seems to show good rpms, at some point, they are not quite accurate. My speeds in 5th don't match up that well with the expected rpm or vice versa. So, at some point, the rpm reading is too high. I'll be switching to the m3 cluster soon though I'd likely not do the mpg diy for a while. I put in an m3 radiator, new engine fan, and 72degC thermostat today. I'm missing a couple parts - expansion tank bleed screw and a screw on the radiator. currently, I'm using substitutes for that, monday, that should be resolved at the dealership. I also took the time to remove the broken PS banjo bolt pieces. I'll get the new bolt on monday as well. Also drained oil and switched to synthetic. AC compressor is on it's way, so hopefully by next weekend, I'll have PS working, AC working, and the radiator/cooling system working properly. |
whoops. . .double post |
Got the screws I need, now I'm good :). Seems like AC will be some work and require more parts (AC lines, etc). That may be a project that gets put on indefinite hold. Still working on PS. Replaced the bolt but now I have a leak elsewhere. Hoping I can get that patched on Saturday. Window regulator fix attempt 3 will likely wait till late August or early September. I've got a lot of cleaning and sorting to do in my apartment and parts to get rid of and other things that require my attention :) |
