Finish it.

Trying to as it is registered for a show on April 15th lol

You put push it across the finish line, or... tow it

Wow beautiful! They definitely compliment the rest of the car and detail/style. Totally love it!

Maybe we should hold you to it.

Got a few things done over the past few days.

I bent the new brake line running to the rear to match the original:
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psznaz2vly.jpg

I threw in my coupe battery cable to help with the relocation to the hatch. I couldn't get any good pictures of this but imagine a red cable running under the floor board wire covers, over the back seat, and into the hatch.

I brought a new to me set of bumper shocks back to life and installed them with my refreshed bumper support:

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pssfvlrerp.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psfbeoflcj.jpg

I managed to get my sunroof in as well but I need to play with it more to get the front to sit flush with the roof. For some reason I am having issues with that. The rear sits nice and flush which really confuses me.

Earl 02-07-2017 11:09 AM

Yesterday I threw in my new hood release cable and associated parts. This was super easy with the fender off.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psfu55qgkf.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps10lgknax.jpg

I also threw the rear bumper on to get an idea of how the rear will look when finished. I was looking around for my bumper trims to throw on as well but couldn't find where I put them.

Looks like some good motivation to get it finished.

Earl 04-26-2017 01:23 AM

Started putzing around again Yesterday.

A little before and after of the refinished front bumper shocks

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psc77zaqnh.jpg

I didn't know that these rear shock tower carpet cover inserts existed until I was watching a Bavsound audio install on a compact. Obviously I ordered them new right away
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps3qnwi2kc.jpg

I installed new tail light gaskets on the MHW's and also threw on my new bulb trays

That's all for now

I let a buddy of mine test fit the Breytons on his vert, as he was looking at a set and wanted to see how mine fit as the others are far more aggressive

Yup!

They look good though, what specs? et?

You probably already mentioned it before so I apologize for being lazy!

Still waiting for the finished product!

Earl 05-14-2017 12:29 AM

17x9.5 et14 and 17x10 et8

Oh geez, what size tire you going to run? How much camber? I'm still struggling if I should sell my ACS 17x8.5 et13 wheels or try to fit 225's on them and live with the poke... i want some rubber lol.

** on stock fenders

Earl 05-14-2017 12:36 AM

I have 205/40's on the 9.5's and 215/40's on the 10's. Stock camber in the rear and only a touch up front. My rear quarters were hammered and dollied quite a bit wider

Are you using eccentric rear bushings? I have my rear wheels barely tucking with non-eccentric rear trailing arm bushings and I was @ ~2.75 neg camber and toe was basically zero, with probably toe out when accelerating (squatting) which is not really the safest thing.

Earl 05-14-2017 12:41 AM

I just have condor delrin trailing arm bushings

These?

https://www.condorspeedshop.com/coll...ushings-e30-ix

If so that will definitely help toe at least and camber a bit.

Earl 05-14-2017 01:03 AM

Not those. The normal ones

Hmmm interesting, I look forward to what alignment specs you end up with.

Earl 05-14-2017 05:56 AM

The rear has a metric ton of toe. Camber wise the rear seems like it is 3 or 4 degrees.

Earl 05-18-2017 12:47 AM

I found a set of latches in decent shape and cleaned them up as best as I could.

Now I can finish assembling the drivers side door. The passenger side needs to be resprayed so it will probably stay apart this far.

Earl 05-18-2017 09:55 PM

Recleaned the door one last time
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psif285jnn.jpg

Played with some butyl tape

and voila

Earl 06-02-2017 11:18 PM

I removed the clips from my old inner window seal and installed them on the new one as they are NLA

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pswavgf59x.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psi8lye3y5.jpg

Installed the door card next. Really happy with how it came together. I just need to find my mirror switch and order new mirror covers.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pssdkjcab7.jpg

I also got a blower motor cover and removed the insulation. I will be smoothing it out and modifying it a bit as well.

Finally had my new bumper trim so I threw it on to get an idea of how the rear will look when "finished"

Test fit my new carpets. I should be able to start on the false floor frame shortly*

Keep up the work dude! Thanks for always sending me snaps of how I regret selling the Ti :/

Earl 07-22-2017 01:54 AM

I've been meaning to update this but photobucket is blocked at work.

I had a blockoff plate cut at work to fill the hole in the trunk from the spare tire (Don't mind the missing nut. The spare mechanism used to have a push pin in that spot. I have since ordered and installed a new nut, as well as siliconed the plate in place.)
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psc3edqhom.jpg

I recleaned the floor boards and removed the handbrake. The car lays frame when aired out and the whole system ( besides the handle itself) was missing from the car ever since I bought it. I will make a blockoff plate for the console until I can make a locking hydraulic handbrake that appears original
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pscszf7cim.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps6sgmzq3k.jpg

Next up I ended up deciding what radiator I would run. I opted for the e36 radiator made by CSF. It will require some measuring to see what hoses work and such. The radiator is gorgeous and the quality is amazing.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psx4jrfflk.jpg

I picked up some super rad Reboot Engineering radiator stays to rid of the flimsy, tricky, and ugly OE stays.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psb9bjv95x.jpg

I also picked up new rubber isolators and 6 cylinder radiator brackets from the dealer.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psg0kzknlb.jpg

Today I threw it in the car to mock it up and have it in place to extend the aux fan temp switch wiring perfectly.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psm6b34chx.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps9wumpuvt.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps8iuurq9r.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psnssg9lq0.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psv2slbfa7.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pskg6lqpj1.jpg

I also finally found the part number for the rear splash guard nuts and threw them on temporarily.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pstun4oabx.jpg

The last thing I have been working on is finding horns that sound good and aren't obnoxious. Everyone seems to use Hella Supertones and I just hate the sound of them. I opted for Hella Sharptones. Unfortunately they're ugly as sin when you buy them but I fixed that quickly.
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps6u24lahc.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psfnpgbyxi.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps0kl3p04c.jpg
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psxqkj8iuy.jpg

I was told that the hardware is garbage and corrodes quickly so the obvious choice was to replace them with stainless socket head hardware.

That brings us up to speed. I have a package enroute from Germany and some other little things here and there, so updates should be coming more frequently=)

anassa 10-13-2017 07:12 PM

Bump for update!

Earl 10-13-2017 10:13 PM

Parted it out and sold everything...

Just kidding lol. Photobucket won't work at my work anymore and I have been too lazy to keep this up to date using my phone
I will compile an update for you in the next few days=)

That's not even funny!! :mad::mad:

Photobucket is a pain, I haven't gotten the third party icon for my pics so far but I think its because I haven't signed in since the update, and as a result haven't accept their new "user policy"??

I just created a imgur account and started using that instead. What a pain.

Earl 10-31-2017 03:32 PM

The blocking software at work isn't working today so I can now update this.

I threw in my OEM Bosch Projectors to get ready for my wiring simplification/extension.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pstxe6bsw1.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pskkakjtdb.jpg

I also bit the bullet and ordered my Driveshaft Specialist of Texas rebuilt driveshaft.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pst3ociilt.jpg

I saw a guy had modified a set of jack pads to keep them from falling out so I had to do it as well.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psh843fbbi.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pspqgabrxs.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pslnwnr6gv.jpg

I just drilled and tapped them in the center for an m8x1.25 countersunk bolt. It wasn't too bad of a process. Now when the pad is inserted into the rocker, you install the bolt and the clips cannot move inward enough to pop out.

Another new thing is that I sold my 1996 328iS. This meant that I had my late bumper Racing Dynamics list sitting around with no use. Out of sheer luck a guy contacted me asking if the lips differed between late and early bumpers. He just purchased one that happened to be for an early bumper, but he needed a late one. We set up the trade and he so kindly had his shipped to me first so that I could show the differences between the two. I was super stoked to have this opportunity and now we both have the lips that we want.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psdduz9wuz.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps8hagg0gf.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps3vu4uj5m.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pstmzqknby.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...pschi1z4kj.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psuc7tovhv.jpg

Another new thing is that since the car lays frame when aired out, the handbrake is somewhat unnecessary and it would look better without one in the console. I made a template for the hole and just need to sacrifice another console to make the filler piece.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psaty27c9k.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...psm3ant9zm.jpg

The last thing is that I just picked up another compact to drift once I finish this one. I already gutted it of most of the interior to sell off to pay for the chassis (let me know if you need anything). I also took the wheels off as I already have a set of rollers and the tires on it are nice enough to sell. It should be plenty fun once I get around to it. The M44 will stay in until it blows up.
