M42 to m44 Obd2 Swap Questions I recently completed a swap which I have not been able to find alot of info for. I swapped a 97' m44 into a 95' m42 chassis, I even kept the engine obd2. I know its a little bit of an odd swap, I made one car from two (I know I'm crazy). 1: 95 318ti auto-tragic with a badly overheated engine (previous owner) 2: 97 318ti 5-speed m-package badly repaired from previous wreck with hacked interior wiring, but the engine and trains works perfect. I was able to purchase this car for the price of most used engines. So the swap was fairly straight forward, I replaced; most of the cooling system, the clutch, all the seals, shift bushings, ect. The wiring on the other hand was tricky, had to add a clutch safety switch, reverse light wiring and relocate the 97' key under the dash for the ews. I have driven this car several thousand miles without a problem, but knowing there would be some problem I attached a scanner. The scanner reveled the front o2 is bad (easy) and the Ecm is missing a vehicle speed reference. I have looked through the wedophones diagrams for a X20 connector pin-out with no luck and have searched the forum. I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction, also sorry for the long winded first post. -Thanks |
Vehicle speed signal is not getting to DME. You need the wiring diagram for both cars, which are available on here, if you do a search for them... Solution is to relocate a pin in the connector, which the wiring diagrams will show you... |
