H Nitro,
Few qs:
1) Does it have side airbags ?
2) how much MPG does it give ?
3) can you ship it to MD if we have a deal ?
4) what is the typical annual maintenance cost like-they tell me bimmers are very exp to maintain.

I have a "never-had-an-issue" Lexus ES300; I am looking to go for a smaller car ( I test drove the Ti and liked it and also it suppossedly gives 32 MPG ? )
I would appreciate your responses.
My email: chan_buddy@yahoo.com

thanks,

Chan... as long as you do maintenance yourself and get parts online, it's relatively cheap to maintain. I get 35-39 mpg during the summer months and 30-35 mpg in the winter.

chan_Maryland 02-28-2007 08:49 PM

HI pnosker,
Thanks tonnes for your reply!
30-35 /35-39 is too good!! I wont be able to do the maintenance myself but will find a reasonable local mechanic.
The reason why I am attracted to Ti is:
Apart form the BMW styling, It's easy to park, and I like the hatchback personally
and The bimmer feels solid on the road unlike the toyotas which are light.

** Can you tell me if the 98 model has side airbags ? **
CAn the side airbags be installed separately ?..does it makes sense/hw costly are they ?

Hey Chan, No side air bags on the TI. I get between 29 to 35 all year long (Florida endless summer). I can ship it anywhere. I have never shipped such a big thing before, but i am sure we can work it out. I LOVE the way it drives. i always said the perfect car is a 318ti with a M3 engine. This car with alot of power would be AWSOME!!!!

I usually do the maintence myself. You are at the right forum. There is nothing that these guys here cant help you with. For the oil seals I had a local professional (Road and Race) do the work.

I almost forgot, the alpine head unit is really nice and the fiberglass sub box was custom made for this car (it can be placed in and out). I still have the box for it. here are a couple of more pictures.

i may have a lead foot or soft tires but mine gets around 30mpg freeway, 26 mixed. Still very good IMO. Mine has been rock solid, by far the most reliable car I've owned. I do tend to fix at the first sign of wear/failure though. Very few '98's had side airbags (I know L84THSKY's 7/98 build date car does not) but all '99's did. I wouldn't sweat the side airbags but if it's a deal breaker expect to pay a bit more for a '99- there were only around 500 imported.

Bump.... Bump... any takers

Nice car! I had a black 95 club sport and I wish I never sold it. I would keep it in your collection if I were you, but if it has to go set it free. Good Luck with sale

Im not sure what is going on with the Market value of these cars..

I am just trying to provide insight.. The other Black M tech was out on Ebay and he didnt reach his reserve. I have seen quite a few Cali specials in the $6K range and just bought a 96 M tech with 104k miles, in really good shape in Miami for $4,200.

Good choice on the M.. nice car.. I hope you find a good home for your Ti its a really pretty car.

+1 - I get about 31-33mpg freeway and around 25 city, and 28 mixed [in tallahassee fl]. If you like to go zoom, expect to get similar mpg.

As for the car, that's pretty good mileage and looks really clean
