S52-Powered 1998 BMW 318ti M-Sport For sale is my 1998 S52-swapped 318ti M-Sport. Wanted to offer this here on the forum before posting to FB, BaT, etc. Bought the car in 2014 when it was still fitted with an M44 and a Downing Atlanta Supercharger. Have since swapped in the engine and trans from a 1999 E36 M3 donor car. Swap was professionally done by a shop here in Michigan (Autocore) that is well known in local BMW/SCCA/NASA circles. Has been a great project but I am looking for something new after 6+ years with the car and a new (to me) ZHP sedan sitting in the garage. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/QA...fEcxpphw=w2400 General: - Factory M-Tech car with full ‘M’ bodykit and sunroof - Arctic Silver (309) over Red Millpoint sport seats (D7RT) - 184k on the chassis, 139k on the engine, roughly 3k miles since swap Engine: - S52 w/ Kassel Performance Tune ECU flash, VIN encoding, EQS, SAP delete - VAC baffled oil pan - S54 Z3 M Aluminum Radiator - Canton aluminum expansion tank w/ Stant cap - Samco coolant hoses - Spal electric fan conversion - Stewart high perf water pump - Turner Underdrive Pulleys - Stock M3 exhaust w/ 3.0L Z3 rear muffler Drivetrain: - ZF 5-Speed from donor car - E46 M3 trans mount - Replacement guibo - 4 clutch BMW Motorsports 3.15 LSD (rebuilt w/ Thayer kit in 2016) - E30 M3 axles Chassis / Suspension: - Front subframe reinforcement and rear sway reinforcement kits - BMW X-brace from donor car - Poly F/R subframe, F/R sway bar, offset front control arm, and rear trailing arm bushings - Racing Dynamics front strut bar (notch cut into it from interference with DASC) - E36 M3 swapped front strut mounts (running ~ 3 degrees negative camber up front) - Bilstein Sports w/ stock M-Sport springs - E46 ZHP steering rack w/ replacement Lemforder tie rods Wheels/ Tires / Brakes: - 16x8 ET23 Style 4 Wheels - Continental ExtremeContact 225/50R16 - Vorshlag wheel studs - E36 M3 front brake conversion w/ replacement calipers and brass guide bushings - Stoptech Slotted rotors, street pads, SS brake lines, ATE 200 fluid Exterior - Black kidney grilles - Black DTM style manual mirrors (stock power mirrors w/ peeling glass included in the sale) - Recently replaced windshield / trim Interior: - M3 steering wheel and cluster from donor car - Rogue shifter w/ replacement M3 shift knob - Aftermarket Sony head unit w/ USB - A/C delete (interfered w/ old front sway, bracket and compressor included in the sale) Issues: - ASC light on (don't believe there is a fix for this w/ the swap) - CEL with P1188/1189 codes (been chasing this down for awhile but car runs just fine) - Slight vibration through steering wheel between 55-65 mph - Headliner sag (duh) - Outside driver's seat bolster shows some wear (duh) - Scratch on driver's side door, two scratches on rear bumper, some chips etc on front end / hood, pictures available upon request After typing all that up I kind of want to keep it but ... time to find a new owner for this 332ti. I built this to be a weekend / HPDE car but ended up with so much in it that it's remained just a fun street car. If I had it to do all over again I might have gone with Konis, had the battery mounted in the rear, and installed a rear trailing arm camber/toe adjustment kit but those will be good projects for the next owner. It's been a great car and would love for it to end up with someone from the forum. Asking $9k OBO. Interested Am Interested. But can not PM ? Any accident/repaint history? Godspeed! Dave |
Wouldn't let me PM you either. Said you might have it turned off? No accident or repaint history. Only paint issue / change is underhood on the passenger-side shock tower where the secondary air pump bracket has been removed and we put down some primer / sealer. |
Ok, thanks on the paint history. Let me ck why pm isn’t working. Would like to speak by phone..... Godspeed! Dave |
You need a certain amount of posts to receive PMs. Beautiful car! This would do well on BAT. What did you do with the DASC? |
Pretty sure I sold it to someone on here to pay for the M3 donor car. |
The car presents very well and is identical in many ways to my swapped ti. I swapped out the red-mill point interior to my Schwartz ti and put in the boa boa interior I got from Miss Kitty on the swapped Arctic Silver car. I have DS1 wheels and a Z3 rear end. Everything else looks very similar. IMHO the price is very fair considering the swap and condition of the car. Good luck with the sale and to any potential buyers. |
Very interested. Please email me at ed@concorsoautodetail.com. I can't send PM's yet |
Sweet A$$ Ti! |
