I still need to make one for myself and trying to get ideas.

Here are some pics...

It's just a plastic box I cut to fit over the battery and mimic the recess;

Looks great! I was just thinking out the battery relocation yesterday. Is that a smaller-than-stock battery?

wolferj-RIP 03-10-2010 03:55 AM

^^^ Did that a couple of weeks ago^^^

Here's what I actually did today;

I was never quite satisfied with the shade of purple that I did my Style 5's in, so I got a custom mixed color that is BMW color 283 "Daytona Metallic Violet"

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/IMG_4076.jpg

Pictures don't do the color justice, it has much more depth and richness than the first color I did them in;

Old color;

New color;

Yes, it is quite a bit smaller... It is a battery from a 90-05 Miata...

Gotta say...I'm really digging the wheels! Nice touch!

Thanks!

I know that the color is "unconventional" to say the least, but I wanted these to be unique... Who else would even dare? :)

This isn't what I did to my car but what my car did to me.

So I was driving to the local meet tonight, so I start the car and its idling at 2,000rpm in neutral, I don't think anything of it, and as I come up to a stop light my battery light comes on then my oil light comes on then my car dies, then my CEL comes on. So I quickly put it in neutral and start it up, and its idling at 1,000rpm normally its at 750-800rpm. My heat isn't on or anything. So I continue driving. Come up to another stop light and same thing. Car starts to over heat, so I put the heat on so it doesn't go into the red. So now I don't know what is going on, so I turn around and head back home. Another stop light, I'm only 5min from my house. Come to another stop light, same thing again. As I'm heading back home, I'm at a stop light heat on windows down so I don't get to hot starting to get to the middle of the temp gauge start going temp decreases. So I get home and put it into the garage and look over the engine. Coolant level is fine, check the dip stick its on the first indicator. CRAP. The last time I did an oil change was in May last summer, so I check underneath of the car, no oil, no coolant on the floor, and no oil leaks. THANK GOD! So I have reason to believe I need to do an oil change, but I'm not entirely sure. THIS IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF because I drove the car the entire day yesterday and today, so i'm not sure whats going on :mad: any help would be appreciated. My dad thinks it needs an oil change as well, so I may do that tomorrow, since I'm on spring break. Also my dad thinks it could be the battery since I haven't changed that since I first got the car from my uncle in 2005.

Sorry for the 6,000,000 words

From the service manual...

Quote:

For reference, the BMW Oil Service requirements are approximately equivalent to the maintenance that other European manufacturers specify at interval with a maximum of every 7500 miles or 6 months.
Even if you only put 10 miles on your car in the last 10 months. The oil should still be changed. Oils, mineral and synthetic, change over time.

gimp 03-12-2010 02:22 PM

That being said, "bad oil" would have caused all of your problems. Get the oil changed, but something else, or some combination of things, is going on.

Could be an air bubble in the coolant and a bad tps or other sensor.

Wolfer, not really a fan of coloured wheels but those daytona coloured ones look fan-FREAKIN-tastic!

Oh, my ti is getting a rest today. Drove the 540 for a change.

Ok thanks guys, since this happened to me last night, I'm going to be driving my mom's prius for the next couple of days. I don't really have time to do the oil change since I'm going to be leaving for school on sunday and will be spending that time with the family. Thanks for the help guys!

Could it also be the fuel pump/rails?

Should have done the manifold swap while I had it all apart... but this was just a wiring harness replacement. Mani swap coming when I can afford the injectors, 3.5"hfm, M3 cams and a re-map.
I read alot of DIY's on the manifold removal, and everyone made it seem so difficult, i was terrified. Its mainly the last bolt near the firewall that people complain about but with a cheap ass swivel socket, I had no issues getting it out at all. The most annoying part for me was getting that effing fuel rail out of the way enough. I popped off an injector but gas started dripping out, and with my old school mechanic light I didn't want to risk burning the house down! lol
I also thought the wiring harness was going to be a big deal, but everything was so obvious to me once I got the mani off that it was no issue... its back together now, not as pretty as OEM wiring looms, but the wires are all tied down and you can't tell from looking at it, so im happy!

Only kicker, I broke the plastic tab on my vaccuum resevoir... no big deal to me, as long as it doesn't rattle around. ZIPTIES FTW! ;)
