AT Gear Selector Handle

I'm looking for a replacement leather AT gear selector handle.

My '96 Active's selector handle button is not operating, so it is easy to slide between gears. The handle has the leather covering. The OEM leather handle replacement costs $225  . An OEM plastic handle replacement is only $25, but it won't match the leather covered steering wheel.

I bought a used leather shifter knob for $20 on Ebay and cut the selector lever a couple centimeters below the fork in the selector lever then used contact cement to secure the knob.

Works perfect and looks a whole lot better

I'm hoping to stay OEM. I'll be searching for a 318ti Active being parted out to see if I can find a leather selector handle cheaper then $225.

The knob I have is OEM but for a 1997 or newer model. The other option is you can buy the 1997 selector lever and knob for $100 on ebay and it will bolt right in. I just threw away that ugly "T" handle because I thought no one would want it but I would have sent it to you FOC.

It is possible the plastic shaft just came off the pin in the "T" handle.

Now I understand, the handle you bought was OEM from a later model but requires a minor modification to the folk to make it fit.
