jg e36 | 06-29-2006 03:42 AM | The fuel gage on my ti was dead when i bought it. I had the same problem before on my 318i and was solved by replacing the sending/fuel pump unit. The car has two sendings units, the right one is the sending/fuel pump unit, the left one is just a sending unit. They work togheter to provide the signal to the gage in the instrument cluster. Knowing this i removed the rear seat lower cushion and discovered that a wire from the right unit conector was broken, fixed it and the gage came back to life. Seems like on a previous cushion removal/installation (maybe for cleaning) the wire was caught between the cushion and the car frame and was damaged because of that. Take a look at your wiring, it could be damaged without blowing any fuses. |
