m44 timing chain my engine has done about 100,000 miles, when should it get a new timing chain? tahnks |
If it's like most chain-equipped engines I'd say wait until 150,000mi. Can anyone say otherwise for the M44? |
itll be fine then, im building a m47 cranked one, just wondered while it was apart if it NEEDED one... thanks! |
Aha! It's already disassembled. In that case I'd say it's your call. |
Well if its not past its sell by date, ill leave it, the engine will probably do 10-15 rallys, which are about 150 miles in each, plus some 100 miles road miles on average. so about 3-4,000 miles. Looking forward to getting it in, its having a lexus is200 6 speed too! |
timing chains don't really wear out like timing belts do, since you have it apart anyways I'd just replace the chain guides and tensioner |
