318ti w/blown head gasket - buy it or avoid it? I'm looking at a '98 318ti with 79,000 miles and a blown head gasket. I'm not sure what other damage could be waiting under the hood due to the blown head gasket. What kinds of things should I look for? Also, why would it have blown in the first place? Should I look into buying this car or avoid it? Any advice? |
Buy it, then buy my engine!!! |
well...assuming I can't be buying new engines right now, what do you think? |
where is the car located and how much are they asking? |
Its located in Chicago. My dad has a buddy at the dealership where he bought his 318ti. The guy bought this one from another customer. He's asking $6500 after they fix the head gasket. It blue books higher than that so as long as they fix it right it should be fine I assume. Since my dad knows the guy it makes me feel better, I doubt he'd screw a friend, but you never know. |
What's their price as is with the blown head gasket? Find a reliable shop and I bet you'll come out even better. Less $$ and you'll know who did the repair. |
