New entry level BMW?

So here comes the new 1Series and its the entry level car for the BMW line. Its nothing near what the 318ti was back in the e36 days but it does look great. Anyone else here thinking of picking up one?
The prices still are not out but i would imagine some crossover with the current 3Series and the 135i but the 128i might be decently priced and still be a blast to drive. Lots of opinions and ideas can be found at www.1addicts.com lots at least to look at.
Now if we could just get them to pull the 2 door hatch version over from Europe!

Oh and on a side note, i got a great look and drive on an Audi S3... man that thing needs to hit the states... its just scary fun.

yeah i cant wait to see them in action. probable 25-32k my guess is in price

teetime4one 09-26-2007 02:33 PM

that'll be on my list of new cars when it comes out.
i'd guess $18,000-26,000.
lol...what do i know?!.

tiFreak 09-26-2007 02:47 PM

Those are cool even though as a teenager they are slightly out of my price range, but they sure are nice to look at. Anyone know if there is any possibility of an M1?

teetime4one 09-26-2007 02:59 PM

word is there will be.

hitchhike79 09-26-2007 03:10 PM

They wont have an M1 because it would clash with naming with the already glorious M1 - www.bmwm1.com

I'm really interested in this car. I don't expect even the 128 to cost less than $25k given the weakness of the dollar. I'd be surprised if the 135 is less than $32k. As for the M rumor, I don't see what it could possibly be. With the 135 having the twin turbos, those crazy brakes, and a tuned suspension, what's left to make it an M? It's gonna be faster than the E46 M3 and maybe the new one just with the weight difference.

hitchhike79 09-26-2007 09:50 PM

Yea, i am really leaning towards the 128i, but if its not a huge difference in pricing after all the options are thrown on the 128i to get it to 135i looks. I might just up and get the 135i so there is no questions later, the drive of the car will really tell. Its crazy that alot of dealers are thinking they will sell all the first 1Series before they hit the lots!

Imagine if they would have done this with the Ti? Putting 6's in and very performance driven instead of economy/cheapest line? We can see with the swaps the potential, now imagine a very well engineered 330ti actually from BMW, would of could of.....

M3_KILL3R 09-26-2007 10:43 PM

ya this is going to be my next goal...the 135i coupe looks amazing to me! i love the look of the car and i cant wait till they come out in the states...i might pick on up debating on either the 135i, s2000, or 330ci.

I'd like to buy a 135 but that depends on what I can get for my house.
A year ago I could have bought a 135 for cash.
The market sucks now. :(

trickiekid 09-27-2007 12:19 AM

I would love to have the $$$ for a 135 (everyone call their congressmen to have them pay the military more  ) Hitchhike are you stationed in naples? BTW I have heard rumors of the S3 coming over soon.

col.hapablap 09-27-2007 01:47 AM

just when the 1series was hot news... there's going to be a new entry level bmw.

based on the mini platform, bmw is very close to producing its first FF (gasp) vehicle.

-edit-

the pic is the Concept CS, and some speculate that it could look like this...

http://www.motorauthority.com/wp-con...car_main01.jpg

"There have been numerous reports pertaining to the possibility of BMW building a new model positioned below the 1-series hatch that’ll share its underpinnings with the current Mini. Not only would the car be the first FWD BMW, it would also be cheapest as it’s rumored to cost less than the aforementioned Mini."

"How the new model will live up to the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’ ethos, however, is anyone’s guess."

why, that would be stupid.....it would cut sales of the cooper. and as for the 135i, I haven't seen where they have lsd, and doubt bmw will change thier policy for non-m's getting them.....so I foresee a traction issued small coupe

trickiekid, yea i am stationed in Naples... well for about a few more months at least.
The S3 coming stateside would be MMMmmm.

Now about this BMW concept... it would never hit stateside, something on that level would be Euro spec. They have so many lower model cars here and the really sub-compact ultra fuel efficient diesels is going the new sort of race here.
