96 318Ti California Roof Jet Black 5spd

I purchased this car recently because I had a 318Ti that I drove throughout college and loved. It popped up locally and I bought it the same night.

Since then, I haven't driven it tons and my wife isn't crazy about having another car in the driveway. I feel like it might be better suited for a 318Ti enthusiast that will give it more love than I can. Its a great little car and I absolutely love the roof.

Here is what I know...

96 318Ti

Jet Black
5spd
176k miles.

Grey Leather Interior - very nice!

Hot heat, cold ac, windows work well, power lock button doesn't work but that is all I can think of.

Mechanically it drives well. Clutch feels solid and has been replaced at some point. No grinds going into gears. Tires are fairly new and have a ton of tread. Brakes work well and are silent.

The power steering pump has a leak and makes noise when it gets low. I haven't gotten under it yet to see where exactly its coming from. Doesn't seem to leak anything else.

Suspension seems solid and tight but I had a feeling it needs sway far end links. You get excessive feedback in the steering wheel when you hit a large bump. No ball joint noise and everything sounds tight so that steers me toward end links.

The california roof cloth is in good shape, no rips or fading. Operates smoothly but makes a grinding noise at the very end of its travel when its open of closed. Its like the stopping tab is broken or something but in the middle it works great.

Rear bumper has some paint chipping but would be an easy fix. There is a very small amount of rust on the passenger side rear wheel well. That is the only rust I can find on the car.

Paint shines up well and looks good.

Check engine light is on. Haven't had the code pulled. It seems to run and drive normally so I assume its something minor.

The car has some M badges but I don't think its any kind of M package. I really am not certain. It has an M steering wheel, shift knob, side badges, etc. If anyone can provide some insight that would be wonderful.

The car is located in Indianapolis. I would love for it to be enjoyed by an enthusiast.

Would anyone have an interest in this thing? I really don't know what to ask price wise. There aren't many cars on here to go by. I suppose that I am simply open to offers.

You can call or text me a 317 270 4444 for additional information.

Thanks!

Just FYI...those seats appear to be leather, not the usual vinyl. They could have been part of a California options package.

I put it up for sale locally for $3,000. Does that price seem way out of line? Im not in a hurry to sell.

Open to offers.

That's a good price to start at. I'd guess it's value to be what someone is willing to pay for it. I'd be a buyer if I were closer.

IF it's still available, you should post the VIN in this thread to get some details on the options.
