Why a 99?

Triple_A 03-28-2007 01:39 AM

does this mean its imported? because i thought the 1998 model year was the last to be produced for the U.S. market.

There were approximately 500 Ti's brought to the US for 1999. Mine has a production date of 10/98. Biggest differences are the 3 spoke M wheel and side air bags. All are sport models. Interesting side note: my '99 cali top has one-touch open, my '96 does not. Love that.

I was doing some digging, and found this out. All imported "1999" models are really calender year "1998" models. My car is a 07/1998 model, but 10/1998 thru 12/1998 are called 1999 models. There weren't any cars imported after 12/1998.

Very interesting. I may start a thread for '99's asking for production date and last VIN digits.

I have a 98, not sure how to check the month of production, lil help? anyways i have side air bags just not the M wheel.

My car is wired for side impact air bags, but doesn't have them. Can you take a picture of the door panels, where the air bag deploys from? Look inside your door near where the lock is, there is a panel with the build date on it.

Do that, I'd be interested in seeing the results.
