oil on top of plugs Just bought a 95 ti a week ago and while waiting for a new master and slave I decided to do a full tune up.while doing plugs i pulled the coil and the end of the coil had a bit of oil on it and the plug was submerged in about 1/4 inch of oil this was consistant for all 4. Only the last one was fouled and causing a miss. owner before me told me in needed a new valve cover gasket and that was the cause for the oil on the plugs. Does this sound correct? I already ordered the new gasket and I'm sure it needs it regardless. Is there anything else I should check especially while I have the valve cover off. |
Most certainly the valve cover gasket. There are four individual rubber seals that fit on top of the spark plug recesses that, much like the perimeter gasket, will fail over time. See this thread for more details. |

Valve Cover Gasket Had to do this twice. First with RTV silicone, no go. The second time I used Hylomar Blue on all the mating surfaces. This stuff is amazing! Look it up. It will seal your VC and there will be NO LEAKS anywhere. It's easily available on line, it's called "Hylomar® Universal Blue". |
