my email is robpankratz@shaw.ca if you have feedback. I am semiretired and would consider driving it to someone...
I recently bought it on a whim in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. I went over it with a fine tooth comb and was very impressed with the condition, so I am certain she has been well treated and maintained.
Since enjoying it for only 2000 miles, I have had second thoughts for financial reasons. Plus I live in Whistler and I think I should have Traction Control rather than LSD, and cant afford good winter tires right now. I love how it drives, very tight, tranny very tight (feels rifle bolt precise), clutch good (feels very firm), does not wander or drift.
Motor very smooth and strong through all rpms, never misses. Awesome mileage (35mpg if its not super hilly, 32 on the Sea to Sky) No idiot lights on.
Runs well, cold starts no issue (sub freezing here last week). Needs a bit of throttle when starting her warm (fires up immediately and occasionally dies unless you give it about 20% throttle - then its fine after keeping it going (2000 RPM) with a bit of gas for between 5 and 10 seconds - anyone know what this is due to?).
When I bought it, the oil and air cleaner were pristine clean, as was the interior and engine compartment - and all the belts look new. I checked the spark plugs and they look near new, not fouled.
I've had a 1999 325ci and 2000 328i, and this car was in so much better shape I couldn't resist it. Mechanical/ safety inspection no problems. Front brakes 50%, rears 30. New Falken Xien tires. Corners better than a gocart, as you all know.
Minor cosmetic issues: small dent right front fender edge, tiny clearcoat rock dings on roof and hood, small hole in leather bolster front seat and back seat. Seriously, I am amazed at how "like new" this car is. It's just not the right time for me right now :-(

Nice car! I was in the market a month ago in so cal... I really would have liked a red on red one. Yours looks like a great example. Some people here think one of these shouldn't run over $2000... maybe they're thinking about base models, I don't know. I paid 3800 for mine off a dealer lot, but it's a 97 sport with 175k miles, not the rare clubsport with nice mileage like that. Nice!

A real beauty!

Thanks
I know the value my insurance company places on a 95 318 up here is only 2500!
She actually is a rare beauty - in much better shape than one would expect and I can't find anything much wrong with it, so I thought it would be reasonable at 6500...
I for one love the "zippy" nature of the M42, lightweight and quick. I drive 4000 Km (2500 mi) monthly on mountain roads... I had a "91 Acura Integra GS (that I took to 427000 Km) and this 318 is much more secure on hard corners - even better than the lowered 2000 325ci I had last year. I should add pix of the other BMW's in my life :-)
