which antenna grommet is correct? So I see them listed at BavAuto and the photo is nothing like what I need. Is there some mystery surrounding the grommets between sedans and tis? I obviously need the round one but every parts house I find shoes some long, rectangular piece of rubber. Anyone got a part number handy? Thanks, brentmiller 95 318ti |
Is this what you need? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CG73&mospid=47506&btnr=65_0217&hg=65&fg=30 |

How do I replace the antenna grommet? got one to replace the old cracked one. but I don't know how to do it. |
Replacing Antenna Mast Grommet I tried to replace antenna mast grommet (rubber was old and cracked) but no success. After I removed old piece and put new one I was not able to screw antenna mast into antenna base. The end of antenna mast (screw) could not reach top od antenna base which looks to be too far down. I understand that antenna base is mounted on antenna base mount bracket, so I am wondering is there way to push antenna base more up adjusting it on bracket maybe. Did anybody have similar expirence? |
I knew I should of wrote down how I did this. I do remember using some liquid soap to get the grommet to turn correctly in the body. Then I probably used some soup to position the antenna. It is pretty easy. Takes a little patience. |

But really? I have the same problem, but my antenna MAST broke off. The grommet is cracked, which I need to replace (probably take the whole **** apart) and if there is an easy way to do that....HALPMEH! Also part numbers may be useful :) |
The antenna mast unscrews. |
they are just hex heads |
THREAD REVIVAL! Anyway, how in the heck do you install a new grommet? The 17-18 mm nut at the bottom of the mast is too large to fit it over, and I can't get the grommet over the mass of rubber near the base of the mast. I could try using more soap and force, but I'm afraid of splitting the new grommet in half if I do so. |
Here you go: - unscrew the antenna - remove the left rear light cluster - pull back the carpet in the left rear corner - unbolt the antenna base from the body - pull down on the antenna base and pull it out of the grommet - push the old grommet down - carefully 'screw' the new grommet into the hole from below. start going in at an angle. - push the antenna base into the new grommet from below - bolt the antenna base back to the body - put back the carpet and the light cluster - screw the antenna back in Regards, Sergey. |
98 328i convertible (E36) antenna grommet replacement? Sergey, you said the left side, on mine it's the right side - same concept just a different side, correct? I am scratching my head over how to get this little $2 rubber piece in the hole correctly... I was figuring I'd have to go in from the trunk. One other question - the plastic snaps that hold the interior in place in the trunk - if you pull them out, do they break? |
