finally got a ti

I joined this forum a year ago when i was eyeballing a 1995 purple on dove 5spd ti with bent valves due to timing chain snap, and ended up passing on the car. Went out and bought my E30 (even drove it 50 miles home after it had been sitting!) and in the last year i've gotten it to daily driver status. Stayed with the forum cause i knew i wanted a ti deep down in my heart, and today it happened. Went out and got a 98' Avus blue over Millpoint gray ti with about 200k miles. When i went to check the car out the PO said it had tranny (auto :frown:) problems, but it drove well. The car didnt want to switch gears without being revved quite high, but im going to see if a fluid + filter change will fix it. It just so happens that there are two seperate local guys selling Getrag 5 speeds from applicable donor cars (one '02 E46 and one '98 323) so i wouldnt be opposed to doing a manual swap. Hopefully the auto trans will hold up for about a year or so while i do some serious restoration on the E30. oh, and i forgot to mention that while test driving the car, the notorious cylinder head coolant connector failed and caused a massive coolant spill.. luckily i was already parked at autozone and didnt overheat even a little bit. For most reasonable people this would deter a purchase, but something about breaking somebody elses car combined with how much i enjoyed looking at, being in, and driving the car compelled me to go back a week later and give the lady her $300. Car has AC, is clearly a sport model with ///M side trim and M3 front bumper plus millpoint seats, and had minimal cosmetic flaws aside from a couple spots on the hood. Anyway, i bought the car today and spent about 2 hours pulling off the valve cover and noticing that whoever was in there last did fairly shoddy work as far as im concerned. While the VCG was new, it was leaking, and numerous bolts for the cowl on the firewall were just barely finger tight. Plus, the "combination hose" seems to have been converted to a couple seperate hoses for better or worse. Had to leave the car in the parking lot while i wait for hose #64211394295 that attaches to the large end of the y connector. Long post, but can you tell im excited to get the car going?
