M Steering Wheel

So, I have sort of been looking at M steering wheels for a while and somehow, nobody noticed this awesome deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=280380120743

That's right, I just bought an M3 3-spoke wheel with airbag (and stupid M decal that's getting removed ASAP) for $120.

And I got $8 cashback from Microsoft Bing search and $2 back from eBay.

AWESOME!!

meh. if i was looking for one i would've spotted it long time ago and not said anything. lol. but i got a 3 spoke euro steering wheel better with the tri-color stitching.
anyway, awesome deal. those things go for $300+ sometimes which is rediculous for a used/old wheel IMO. Does this have the plug for the horn?

Nice! That's a great find.

I'm lusting of a RAID wheel personally. http://www.bigbendmiataclub.org/miat...teer/newdh.jpg they retain the airbag and look/feel amazing.

Seems pretty hard to get one though! I can't find them! Just saw one on a Miata once and feel in love.

It does have a horn plug in. It should be 100% compatible with the current slip ring. How much was your euro wheel?

not going to lie, the euro wheel was a bit more. but it was worth it. feels good. good grip. looks good. and feels sporty.

sweet deal, not a fan of the US-spec 3-spoke wheels but for that price I think I could make do

I have the same one, and paid a lot more....congrats.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt there something in the column that has to be changed as well? I have a 4spoke M wheel/slipring, but i need an airbag, and i understand that part of the column has to be changed with it?

pnosker 08-04-2009 06:43 AM

1995 and earlier can accept 1995 M3 and earlier wheels with no modifications. 1996 they changed the slipring design and all e36 1996+ wheels/bags fit with no changes.

Hmm.. Ok, well im reading around a bit right now.. I have a 95, and the wheel came from i believe a 98. Looks like i will have to replace the steering column switch bracket?

You will have to splice your horn and airbag wires. Check http://home.earthlink.net/~frankie66...eringwheel.pdf

I'd love to see a 3 spoke, E46 wheel (with audio/cruise controls on wheel) installed on a ti.

+1
can anyone explain what i need to install it on my baby?

the three spoke with the buttons... i was told it was a limited production wheel??? is this true?

Looks like you can install the E46 wheel but the airbag and buttons won't work without some major modifications.
