DASC + M42 + Stock Intake = Possible?
 

I can't seem to find anyone running a stock intake airbox with an M42 and DASC, is it possible? My recently purchased 318ti had the kit installed, so I wasn't able to see before. The current cold air intake installed on the car is crap, so I need to make a change of some sort. I don't like the raspy sucking sound of a CAI, so I'd prefer to go back to stock if possible.

Can you post a pic of your setup? If you have an M42, You may be able to squeeze that tank of a airbox into the bay. But I dont think it will have room.

I just have the filter over the AFM as most do. Right now Im working on refitting everything from the throttle boot forward.

I personally do not care for the adapter parts that came with the DASC kit in this area.

I'll try to get one later. I think it's crap, the cone filter is crammed into the radiator support and the radiator core. Mine is tight enough that it has deformed the filter.

Haha, same here brother, my K&N is hitting the back of my headlight. I always check it to see if its punctured a hole in the rubber.

My issues lie with that metal intake elbow from downing. There is an O-ring that fits inside that puppy and if its breaks your SOL. Time to hunt for a Oring that fits. Im also missing that aluminum split ring that also fits inside the elbow. So I have unmetered air flow after the AFM. Which means anoying Idle fluctuation.

One big pain in the arse, so Im planning to delete the elbow entirely and re plumb up to the throttle body.
