'96 owners manual vs. '97 owners manual

Is there a difference between a 1996 owners manual, and a 1997 owners manual?

They have different part #, so I want to make sure I get the right one before I fork out the dough. These things are friggin expensive!

1997 owners manual Part #: 01 41 9 789 947
1996 owners manual Part #: 01 47 9 788 707

I won a '97 Active model, so i want to make sure all the feature are in the manual.

Thanks!

Have you checked eBay Motors for the one you want? Or perhaps someone parting their 3-series out on here or www.bimmerforums.com. You'd save quite a few chips in the process.

yep, checked ebay, cheapest i've found is $80 for a '97. Also someone on here has one, a bit more expensive but is for a '96. so want to see if there is a difference between the 2 manuals. thanks for the tip.

I saw that the manuals are the same from 1997 to 1999.

So this could be something for you:

Thanks for the link. Too bad its in German. I'd be all over if it was in English! But good to know that from 1997-1999, the owners manuals are different, hence the different part #'s. Hey nice car btw. I think your 323ti has inspired many of us. Amazing car you have!

Last time I checked it was like 39 bucks from getbmwparts.com

Hmm... only $33
Part number MSRP CORE PRICE
01419789947 $42.00 $0.00 $33.60

Yes, I did see that for $33. do you know if its the whole set? It might only be the owners booklet. Im looking for everything including the leather case & audio cassette (what a dork I am!!)

It's probably just the manual.

John_in_VA 11-04-2010 01:06 AM

It is definitely only the owner's manual.

Well, if just the owner's manual is $33, you'll be hard pressed to find the whole kit and kaboodle for less than what you've seen. Short of someone parting a wrecked one out. Good luck to you, I've done this hunt before with other E36s...not fun or cheap.
