Air bag cover I have the passenger air bag cover loose and since it is not really connected to any of the air bag components i was wondering if it would be safe to just put some velco on it or just glue it on some how. Im open to any other suggestion. Thanks |

Redleather, The passenger airbag cover is held in by 4 friction type clips on the underside. Over time, they seem to work themselves back out a bit. Pushing down from the top doesn't help. There's too much "cushion" in the cover to move the clips. What you can do is remove the glove box, whcih is not hard, and pull the clips from below. They move a miniscule amount, but enought to snug the cover back down. For whatever reason, all the airbag cover seem to do this. Both of my ti's had this and discovered that pulling from below is your best bet of making the cover sit flat. |
The clips that hold the cover in place are broken. I was wondering what i could do to keep this from moving. |
In that case, maybe you need to buy new clips? Or cover? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...64&hg=51&fg=30 |
would just using some double sided tape or something to hold it in place not be safe? |
for like 50 cents or less apiece, i think i'd get the clips. |
Double sided tape may work, but I doubt it will take the pounding the sun may dish out. Double sided tape should give way when the bag blows, but I don't think it has the strength to hold the panel down completely flat if it is warped. Just don't epoxy the panel on. If you are just looking to hold it inplace, I say try the doulble sided tape. Otherwise, I would get the parts necessary to fix it right. |
