idle regulator valve

They replaced a part called the Idle Regulator Valve.

is this the same part as reffered to as the Idle control valve ICV??

Well since they replaced it the car runs fine, it would appear fine except i knew the car before this part was replaced and it isn't 100% the way it was before. The car will still idle a bit rough, Very minor shaking is noticeable in the car at times. The revs will also drop a bit low and bounce up a bit if i have been driving and put the clutch in. Also now, sometimes when i turn on the air conditioning or and play around with turning the headlights on and off the revs drop and raise and do minor movements.

I know this happens in other cars but i can honestly say these things did not happen before this part was replaced.

This was the first sign to me that this new part was not functioning 100% as it should. Also, the idle regulator seems to be making these clicking noises.

the part is genuine bmw, fresh out of the sealed bag. Maybe something is in there that is causing the clicking noise at times, and causing it to function maybe 95% the way it should?

It is the same part. You can try cleaning it out with some Carb cleaner.

I'm sure this part is making a clicking noise i don't know how the part works or what it is but is this a part that could make this sort of noise???

i'm taking it back to them tommorow so should just suggest they clean the part and where it attaches to??

It works by reguating how much air bypasses the throttle body. When working correctly the part should make a little buzzing sound.

Is the valve adjustable to raise the idle?

The one that was on there originally, it looked as if he could turn it and that adjusted it. The one that is on there now doesn't look like it can be turned or anything.

I'm in the process of speaking to the insurance company so I can take it to BMW to have a look at.
